sorry about the long trip for the eggs. probably 350 miles out of the way  our USPS is something else cutting hours, jobs, and raising prices but I just watched on the news they are having a big conference soon complete with golf, elaborate meals, deluxe room accommodations all for a measly 2 million dollars   and they wonder why they are going broke :rant   :rant

Must be going by the motto gotta spend money to make money?

I'm so sorry about that! Some people have lost this thing we call gratitude.

That totally sucks. I could understand if it was an allergy or something, but it's rather insulting to just assume it's not healthy enough. Maybe a potluck next time?

Next time tell him to bring his own. And tell her to bring Tums. How rude.

Sew, not atall... you're keeping your promise. Good girl, LOL

What she said.

Sheesh....some people
or next time, invite them over AFTER dinner to play the game.

Pizza next time and ice cream with candy in the candy dishes... the tempting stuff...m&m's and kisses.

OR next time tell them what you are having for dinner so they can eat or bring their own.

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Next time that couple comes to visit, serve a big veggie tray...and have some decadent home baked goodies for dessert, saying, " I know YOU, can't eat this, but I know the rest of us will enjoy it!

I think I have eggs from Jim Heinz to go to lockdown this week. Gotta check the calendar!

Enjoy the day!
Thanks guys!!!!! you have made me feel 100% better. ..I love this idea! I also like the Pizza, ice cream and candy idea!!!! suits my frame of mind right now!!!!!!!! But I already told husband that it was their turn to host so they can do the cooking from now on. Heck, I am not even involved in the game so I can stay home and get stuff done around the house!!!! and that way I don't have to clean for them coming over either!!!

Oh, and did I mention that this is also the guy who doesn't like my chickens? he keeps commenting on how "nasty" birds are. No wonder he's rubbing me the wrong way.

Good morning all!

I have another question (of course!) where do buy ACV with mother in it?
what is "mother?"

"Mother" is the unpasteurized apple cider vinegar with the good probiotics in it. It will appear cloudy in appearance. Braggs in the most commonly known brand, but Heinz has started selling it also.

Last night I pulled some of my hatchlings out and I have 2 chocolate wyandottes (gf eggs- hopefully more crack open not such good odds so far), 1 Silver Penciled rock , 5 Rhodebars (3 girls and 2 boys- great odds so far). Hopefully when I go home tonight I will have lots of chirps coming out of the hatcher. I know, shouldn't open the door during a hatch but we have been having staggered hatches. So far our method works- we both work together and quickly remove the hatching pan, take out the empty shells and chicks and spray the rest of the eggs with very warm water A(100-105 deg) and get them back in quickly. Usually with the sportsman it only takes 2-3 minutes for the temp to straighten back out.

What we do is buy a bottle of the braggs and buy gallons of the regular w/o mother. We will divide the gallons out and put part of the braggs with mother into the ones without mother- let them set for a week or two until you see the mother increase. You can get store brand gallons for under $4.

I would have thought the pasturization would keep the mother from growing in the regular?
