I can't decide. I bought some broad breasted bronze from the feed store and they where super awesome amazing and friendly. They don't reproduce naturally though. Maybe I will be on the lookout for royal palms, since my husband likes them. Heritage are a little less friendly, but turkeys are oh so freakin cool.








Oh who am I kidding. I will probably end up with both kinds.

I ordered a surprise assortment of mixed poultry from a hatchery, to be delivered in March. My Mr isn't overly keen on multiple kinds of birds, so my plan is to be surprised with ducks, turkeys and/or geese show up in the box. Then I'll grow them out and process some to show them how yummy home-grown turkey & duck is. I've got it all planned out. Now just to hope they send me turkeys and ducks.

I have a chick whos crop is blown up like a balloon. feels like it is filled with air! what can I do? He is acting a little wierd which is how I caught it.

Hey everybody!! I'm finally feeling better and like my head is no longer going to explode, sheesh.. Seriously that is the WORST cold I have had in many years, yuck... And the kiddos are better, too, finally, time to air out the house and wash everything, lol!!

Maybe that's what's got me in a stranglehold. I actually stayed home from work today and am on drugs. (I don't get paid leave so...) headaches suck

I need some Leghorns. Babymakes6 mentioned her millefleure ones so I went off and checked them out and

decided I need one so I can have a nice big egg every once in a while to decorate. or ducks. either one. oh, and a goose. still saving my pennies for that one. but I discovered that geese eat grass (!!!) we are in the middle of the woods...no grass!!! lots of leaf-fall and bugs for the chickens to scratch around for but no grass! going to try to plant some but it might take a while to get established. I guess I could grow fodder for them all summer, too. but that's alot of work.
