Looks like I am definitely in the minority on this. I tend to brood mine much cooler than recommendations and give them much more area to stay cool. I have had my NYDhatch chicks outside without heat since 5 weeks of age. By the way, if anyone needs a Birchen Marans splash or blue cockerel, I have several available. LOL Craigslist is fixing to become a firm friend of mine.

I'm really on the fence. They are fully feathered. I tend to cool them faster too. I prefer to have them off heat a lot sooner then most do. My basement isn't the warmest spot in the house either. I guess I'm not into pampering my chicks. I'm going to check on them before heading to bed and see how they are doing.

I am finally done.  3 brooders and 1 coop/pen cleaned out.  4 groups of chicks moved.  After next week's hatch, I will be officially out of brooder space.  I need Spring!!!!

I am not out of brooder space but I still need spring...I hate the cold!

I know its not a chicken but meet my newest foster pug Brodi, I picked him up this afternoon. Brodi was surrendered in love as his first human Daddy is now in hospice and the family could not take him in. He marks and as a special bonus poops the house when nervous!

He seems to be a sweet sweet boy though and was quick to find the couch

I know its not a chicken but meet my newest foster pug Brodi, I picked him up this afternoon. Brodi was surrendered in love as his first human Daddy is now in hospice and the family could not take him in. He marks and as a special bonus poops the house when nervous!
