I was thinking perhaps it implied greater fertility![]()
I'm not sure if this was answered. No, if the bird is smooth, it cannot be hiding the frizzle gene. It is one of those random genes that we call incomplete dominant. If it is smooth, it cannot have the gene. One copy shows it, two copies brings it to the extreme.
I am spelling chalanged also. I think it has improved my vocabulary because I always have to think up a word that means the same thing but that I can actually spellIronic spelling tangent..... I am the single worst speller in the world and my grammar is not much better. It is an interesting combination of dyslexia and disgraphia. I am a college professor and I usually teach Psychology and Sociology. This quarter they have me teaching Foundations of Writing. I have to give my students extra credit for catching my spelling and grammar errors when I dissect sentences on the board with them! A whole lot of extra credit has been awarded in the last 8 weeks. I think they learn the information just so the can "Catch" me. At least it is good humor.
I've seen marans spelled numerous ways. I don't mean to sound judemental, but typically, I won't buy from someone who can't spell the breed name properly. When I'm posting here, I'm sure I mess up words, but if I'm doing an advertisement or I'm trying to post something edumacational, I'll look it up in thedictionary if I'm not sure. I used to be a champ at grammar and spelling, but these electronic devices have ruined that, lol. As a kid, I used to read dictionaries and thesarauses (see, I think I spelled that wrong, LOL), for fun. Used to get made fun of for it, but I enjoyed it. Novels end, those things were basically unlimited.
When did she get her license to be a backseat driver???Anyone want to explain to me how this happened??

I read a really fascinating post about the businesses of writing by Kate Elliott a few days ago. It was explaining why she was not finishing my favorite novel series. If you search jar an on her live journal it comes up. I do wonder how publishers can make less money now that they don't have to print 1/2 the books they sell. The whole industry has to change it is just not dealing with reality very well.I bought a $2 thermometer/hygrometer off ebay. Yes, shipped from China -- I don't much like that part of it, but it works like a charm. I also use the cheap little thermometers with a probe on the end of a wire to make water wigglers to track internal temps, too. Struggling writer -- I pinch pennies. My measure of success will be the day I never have to shop at a Walmart again. Drives me nuts -- twenty years ago Walmart was a fantastic company and prided itself on everything it sold being made in the U.S., and I loved shopping there. Now everything they sell is made overseas, so why should I increase their profits (which sure as heck don't go to their employees) when I can get the same thing made overseas for cheaper from overseas? Sorry, I rantedThe day I sign my first multi-novel contract, I am ordering one of those stunning, handmade-in-the-USA cabinet incubators from the guy who made COF's.
Smooth does not have the gene, but should have all the other characteristics of the breed and are thus accepted as smooth whatever. They are nessiary to breed back to. It gets more confusing when you ad more feather genes like silked in there.Oh, now that I'm unsure about. Can it be carried as a recessive without displaying? Anyone? The way I should have put it was two smooth parents=smooth, one smooth, one frizzle= 50% smooth, 50% frizzle, two frizzle parents = messI don't actually know how the genetics work, only that that's what results with breeding them.
I'm insanely spelling challenged. Plus I have to fight autocorrect on the pad. I blame the fact I speed rad and look at whole words and sentences not individual letters. It sounds good!Wonder if those come from the same rare fowl breeder as those "Rossenburge Inland Rockies" (RIR)My spelling is horrid, and I reserve the right to poke fun in good humor.![]()
Any of my friends will tell you... I ams verra edumactaed anna I's speel reel goot! Hrumph

Staging 101 tip : Make sure they remember how many bedrooms and bathrooms the house has. Unless someone is living in the place, in which case just pray they keep I clean, lol.So in the latest news! We've been crazy busy here. Between all things spring and eggs and farming etc. our realtor recently called us and told us it was time to sell the house we've been renting out. We aren't intentional landlords. It's not our thing. It's especially not our thing since we now live about an hour from our house in Portland. Well. The house itself isn't too bad but our previous tenants made an attempt at gardening and in doing so KILLED all of my gorgeous borders and gardens including a 50yr laceleaf AcerSo we've been trading and buying landscaping plants and I've been driving back an forth to the city for the last however many days. Its frustrating but we really want to sell the house and not have that in the back of our minds. We'll be back to somewhat normal life as of next Wed after we've busted the curb appeal out and officially put the house on the market. Can't wait for it to be over!
Hey its warm in there!Anyone want to explain to me how this happened??![]()
