Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Hi Everyone, I haven't been swapping lately do to lazy layers and being very busy getting ready for my craft show. I just wanted to ask the ones that have gotten there turkey eggs from me. If you had any hatch or not or if you had any candle or not. Those of you that didn't get any to candle or hatch please Pm me. I will resend the eggs, I think the cold weather got to them. They aren't laying right now but, When they start back up I will replace you guy's that didn't candle. I think they got too cold with the wacky weather we have been having.

Here is one of my Blue Slate turkey Poults that hatched a few days ago.



I have picked up some new breeds though, I got a quad of Large Fowl Silver Laced Wyandottes


I also picked up a new pair of Muscovy Ducks they are like a Lavender and Chocolate mix. Look kinda like a calico color.

The Blue Slate is so breaking my heart....

Oh, and, BAD Michelle, nobody is allowed to post poult pics unless they're already on my breed list... Heavens knows I don't need additional turkey pens!

I sure will. They only have them 2 times a yr. I try to make them both to get a little extra income. But, I don't have a fancy set up, like the other ladies do. But then again I think I am one of the youngest ones there too. I feel a little out of place when I go. Plus I bring 2 of my kids with me too. People think I am crazy until I put my table clothes up and make a make shift club house for the kids under the table with there toys and snacks and they have the table cloth for the house.

There amazed at how that pre occupy;s them.

Aren't they sooo cute when they are little. I have to get a pic of yours that hatched. Not sure what color it is though. The other one quit on me.

Hrmm, a Turkey Hoarder with strange fetishes for looking at fully stocked inventory.

That would be me! I guess I'm a bit eccentric, lol! Moving shows me how bad my "hoarding" can be... one tote box of JUST shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste. BUT, it's all good stuff I use and I'm anal about how well organized it is... so I prefer the "prepared" term over "hoarding", LOL!

I got around to taking pictures today.

This is a dark picture, but you can see how they all cuddle up on the seedling heat mat at night.




Here are the month old chicks, There a legbar girl from Swidledana and a Lemon Cuckoo Orp and a Rhodebar boy from Papa Brooder. The rest are back yard mixes from my birds.




Thoughts on this one's coloring? She has a nice white headspot and the beginning of barring on the wings.


These are my two November chicks, the first chicks I hatched. They're 16 weeks and He's started trying to crow - sounds like a dying cat.
He's got the same parents as the little chick above. The girl is an SBEL, and she's got the faintest gray lacing on the neck feathers. So pretty.


The view from my driveway. The picture was taken in January - I think that was probably the last clear day ever.


This one is a sib to the grey barred chick - I just liked the expression and how it looks like she's got a basket on her back.

Lol! The one I have now is growing well! Hey, btw, how many claims have I madefom you? I was candling today and I swear there are two batches of your eggs in there... then I have how many coming? LOL! I must be crazy! But, hey, in my defense, I have two men here who want royal palm ladies... George and my royal palm tom!

I would still set the eggs. You never know. I was just talking to a fellow BYCer tonight about my eggs that I got all mashed up in the mail. He told me a story of a University of Arkansas professor gave a long speech at a poultry meeting one time about how a paper had been written extensively on how broken was too broken, how cold was too cold, how frozen was too frozen, how damaged air sacs were too damaged. He said, in a mocking way, the conclusion of the paper was, they have done numerous studies and they have proven that 100% of the time an egg doesn't hatch if it is never incubated. BUT, sometimes, a chick surprises us from what seem to be scrambled eggs. You never know unless you set them.

I do them with my kids too! I suck at making pretty setups though... like no vertical or anything... very boring. :/

I'm sorry to hear about the second poult. I was hoping they'd both hatch for you. I wish I had sent the four I thought I had sent!
