Happy Birthday Bama1 and Sah!

I always think it is just ridiculous when we have like 5 roosters on the ground and one hen gets the stupid idea to get off the roost and fly down- she gets ganged up on by all 5- by number 5 she is always wabbly and can't walk for about a minute. And yet.... days later.... she does it again. Poor hen.... sometimes chickens aren't very smart. I just want to turn my head and walk away, sometimes I rescue the hen after 2 have got her, sometimes I just shake my head and under my breath, "stupid chicken"

they will be alright, doesn"t hurt for them to go into lockdown a day or so early

So just leave them in Lock Down a few days longer to give extra time?? I guess if some hatch early and play football with them, they will technically have been turned won't they!!

Happy Birthday!

I put eggs in lockdown yesterday, and I can see them wiggling! I made a new basket system, to keep the breeds separate, hope it works better than last time! The down side is that the top of the basket covers them all and can't be taken off without taking off the entire lid, so I have to sit on my hands and not remove a couple chicks at a time, which is the hardest part for me!

All birds hub through Memphis and there were MASSIVE delays this week getting boxes out of there. They dont scan them at that hub, but it is the main spot where all live birds sort through out to sort facilities in other states. (learned this one yesterday while searching for a pair of goslings who went missing)

I received some SQ Porcelain D'uccles in yesterday. Two pair. Hubby is in love. Mr. Macho Redneck sat in the run with them in his lap for half the evening talking to them. LOL

My DH does the same thing with his rough and rowdy games. People are scared of him most of the time. 6'3 285 pounds and he always melts to mush over chicks, puppy breath, and his game birds.

Well, my little one-eyed silkie is doing fine It finally occurred to me to put my lone frizzled serama who I haven't been able to put with anyone else because she's very meek and tends to get sat on in with her. They seem to be doing well together

First batch of buckeyes and OEGs are in lockdown, yay! I have like five staggered hatches over the next two weeks -- had to build a second hatching bator which is coming up to temp now, 'cause I staggered them too close together, lol! March is going to be a very chick-y month

My chickies finally made it this morning. All made it though 2 look to be iffy. Got them to drink and put them under the heat so hopefully they will be fine when I get home from work.

I hope everyone else's birds are found and are okay.
