Good morning, everyone.  Congrats Mzstre on the OD.  I am so hoping the three you sent me hatch!

I was impatient and set the first 4 eggs my hen layed after I separated the pair. All 4 hatched, but 2 are half bantam Cochin. I hope I can find a home for the 2 mixes. The one other pullet I have that's OD / Cochin is still my favorite chickie right now, though. She's beautiful!

MZ its not to tell if they are laying, Its a check to see if they are close to or could be laying. The pelvic bones open when they are close to or arelaying and close together at the end of laying season

Hmm...I wonder if there's a tutorial for checking?

Well I sent that's safe I posted above as well as the pictures so I sure hope she works with me. I am not web asking for a full refund. I understand the shipping charge is kind of my responsibility since all returns from companies are "you pay return shipping" Nd I am going to try to set the 4 eggs that don't have goo on them, but I do think she should return the rest of the money.

She is gorgeous!

My heart is absolutely broken this morning..... I put 40 eggs in lockdown yesterday. All of my seramas, my turkeys, my Cayuga ducks and SFH were safely in lockdown in my brand new hovabator genesis that I have been running for 3 weeks. I woke up this morning and the heat was out. The fan was on, but the broken thermostat said 59.

Man, I am devastated....I babied those seramas and ducks and they had all made lockdown. I quick put them in with the other incubators. They were still moving around in the egg, but I doubt they will hatch. I am so sad. I am trying to decide all morning about getting a Sportsman. It is so expensive, and like I really need more chicks. But it's really fun and about the only thing I enjoy doing since my mom died. I don't know. For as amazing and fun poultry keeping is, it sure breaks your heart sometimes too.

It is a roller coaster of day-to-day life and death.

Fingers crossed that they will still be OK. Hopefully a few will still make it. I think cold is easier to survive than hot. I saw on the Arkansas thread where someone had found eggs that their duck had been brooding and left with it 20 degree weather or so and still had some hatch after they put the ice cold eggs in the incubator.

oh no!!!! gosh I so fear this. is there not still a chance for them, then? I guess 59 is pretty cold...

Man auto correct is NOT my friend!!

I am so sorry profti. My hovabator did that to me once. Unplug it from the wall, let it sit, and plug it back in. It may just need reset. Also I have had mine unplugged a lot and still had good hatches. Just delayed. Let hope the same for you. 59 is pretty low, but maybe you'll get lucky.

Mine had gotten down to 73 with 9 DMRippy BCM eggs, 8 still developed after that. I moved 6 under my broody thinking my Bator was broken and had 3 hatch.
