How do you answer someone when you get an email saying they only had 3 eggs develop. They only received 7? Too me, that's pretty good odds shipping in cold weather no less. Am I wrong??

I just hatched 14 out of 38 and felt I did wonderful considering the weather. Roughly 34% - They should feel BLESSED!!

IDK either. Had that happen a few times not really sure what to do. I usually will toss a few extras in with the next batch.... if I can remember

and if they get more. I shipped eggs, Marans no less, to a first time hatcher and they told me none hatched..... I though a couple of days too early. According to my calculations it was only 19-20 days but they were sure. I since talk first time hatchers OUT of Marans eggs.

So I think it is official. Out of 36 eggs set, I have 1 healthy chick. I think I am ready for this break from hatching. I am getting depressed.

I think that's a darn good rate for shipping, period. Let alone cold weather

Yeah, I wasn't even a first-time hatcher and the complete inability to candle kinda freaked me out I did learn eventually that you can tell by air cell size and overall "darkness" of the interior whether an egg is developing -- but not (for me) till about day 12 or so

you just never know with shipped eggs, whoever got those 7eggs might get 7 more and have every one of them hatch. It"s the chance you take with shipped eggs
