You just smile and agree with him honey. Once your at 200, tell him you think your up to 55 now.

Yup, that's what I do. My hubby don't even know what I have or even how many. He don't go into my barn. Nobody here helps with feeding, watering or cleaning up after any of the animals so I will be danned if anyone tells me how many I can have.

Everytime I try to downsize and I get down I end up getting more in and end up with the same amount of birds and sometimes more than I had.

Ok I will see if I can get it to stabilize a little lower. At least to avoid the 101-104 range that it keeps hitting. So depressed right now. I list a chick and a family dog (my parents but I lived with and cared for her for years). Feeling like a murderer with the eggs lately. Sorry to vent.

How many eggs do you have in the bater? Most spikes occur due to insufficient heat sinks (IE not enough eggs in the bater). If you have only a few, and it's not half or mostly full, set more eggs or add small jelly jars of (99*) water, or buy store eggs (they are inferile) and put those in (warm them in warm water first). They won't explode or anything, and it might stabilize your temp spikes.

Good luck!

It has been empty I will start adding stuff to it ASAP. Thank you.

All this time the DH has been acting like it is a bad thing to try to fill the bator. I have added two 99.3 degree ziplock baggies to the bator (it's all I have). I candled, while I don't see movement, there is/was definitely development in four of seven. The other three were fully clear. I broke them open and no development on those three (my candling skills are improving.

Baggies of water. I am going to have to get some jars...

I need advice. I am supposed to lock down eggs tonight. I don't have much hope for them because they started out in Spike the psychotic incubator. Spike is all I have for lock down as the hova bator is occupied with other eggs. I have been trying to get Spike to a steady temp since Sunday and he just won't cooperate. What do I do? Increase the humidity in the current incubator and hope for the best there? Turn spike down so he is 95 to 100? Please help? Is too cool a workable solution?

I don't mean to laugh, but I couldn't help myself when you named your "psychotic incubator" "Spike".
