Morning guys! I woke up to 7 beautiful dead baby buns

She didn't cover them at all and they got cold. One was a beautiful little chocolate too. I'm hoping this is just first time mom error.
first time moms can make all sorts of bad choices. be glad she didnt eat them

I have found that if we have a girl due and its cool or cold out if we move her inside a building she has a better chance at getting the litter started
That is why I stopped breeding bunnies I had one doe that ate every last one of her kits every time. I just couldn't deal with it, plus I much prefer chicken over rabbit.

On another note I need more help so sorry I am so needy!

But I have eggs that are going in to lockdown on Sunday, my problem is I am using a still air incubator for a hatcher and I can't get the humidity past 55% I kind of customized it. Because it is a cheap still air the bottom inside where the water goes is all styrafoam(SP?) so I actually cut out most of the "walls" and have 3 plastic coffe tops (I can wash) in each corner under the wire mesh. I want to add a fourth but need to empty the coffee in another container tonight. Plus I cut sponges in half and put in the center of the water dishes(coffee lids) ON TOp of the mesh I put 2 more dishes with more water and then some absorbant wash cloths like someone suggested not shamwows but close. Will it take awhile for the% to register? Or should I try to figure something else out? I don't have much choice but to hatch in this as both my incubators are full, full, full.

Use warm steaming water. It brings my Rh right up.

gosh...I think/hope she will be better at it next time? I swear we populated the south-east quadrant of Pennsylvania with baby bunnies when I was a kid just with two starting bunny pets. it was bad.

So sorry about your kits. It can be a first time mom, it can also be if the doe was stressed too close to delivery. Make sure she has a dark quiet place (throw something over her cage) and make sure she has her nest box at least a couple of days before she's due.

Good luck next time she kindles.

Anyway, thought I would share my system,

OMG, could you come to my house and organize me? I'd give you eggs............. So far I've been going on memory (which is VERY good) and a small pocket calendar. Just today, I told DH I might need to start keeping more complete records, LOL

You notice the feet are in the same identical position in each photo? I think there may have been a taxidermist involved. And the amount of skull removed does not synch up with the amount missing. Where's the neck and the back of the brain case?

***Speaking of DH's... I need to go spend time with mine. He builds me cages and I seem to ignore him...

I am so guilty of this. DH does all the feeding, most all of the watering, all the building, cleaning, hauling, carrying and helps with the bathing for shows. Yet here I am on the computer while he watches the news. Ummmm, it gets worse, today is our wedding anniversary

I think I need to go collect eggs....................

I use microfiber towels instead of sponges. I roll them up and put a rubber band around them. I find the water evaporates at a much more even rate and keeps my humidity level stable much longer. Another benefit is being able to wash and reuse them without worrying about bacteria.
