Can use it either way.  Activating it just makes the reg oxine last longer.  You mix the citric acid and oxine and let it sit for like 5-10 mins it will turn yellow (I do that outside) than add a gallon of water to it and tada you have a gallon of activated oxine.  It really make the oxine last a lot longer.  I bought 4 gallons of oxine about 6 months ago or longer and I still have 3.5 gallons left of reg oxine.  I used to buy 4 gallons a couple of times a year but now I guess that will last me a couple of years or more.

If you are a prepper Oxine I would think would be a requirement.  It will clean the water (same stuff some utilities use to treat water you drink) I would think it would be great for cleaning cuts and stuff too.

So what you're saying is I need to get some citric acid ;)

I'm bummed. We're putting down our old tom turkey today, Bob. He would have been eight years old next month. He's been having leg problems this winter, which actually appears to be gout, but this morning he was on his back. Righting him was temporary. Poor old guy. We're gonna miss him.
<hugs> its hard when your babie are on a differnt timeline then you and get old quick. Sounds like tis time adn you are helping.
Update about my Neighbor:

I have not had any craig's list flaggings or printed copies of my BYC stuff come up since we had that online discussion. I think the message was made very clear that I am aware of what has been happening and that I will pursue my rights. I have been in contact with the state department of Human Rights and I am one dirty look aware from a restraining order. Thanks for all the advice....I am still working on it!
I was just thinking about this last night! and forgot to ask, glad to see its getting.. well, managed? if not better.

How many oz of oxine and citric acid do you use per one gallon of water? I haven't bought any oxine becuase of the price, but if I could make it last like a year I would buy it. Also, how long does an activated gallon last? Not by use, but by shelf life?
