Sorry you are feeling sick! Hope the bee hives work out. That is our next year project. DH took a beekeeping course last month.Morning peeps. I feel like crude this morning. I should have stayed home instead of coming to work. Might be a short day.
On another note, I got a visit from the bee inspector last night. We use to have bees until my reaction to bee stings kept getting worse. He was there to inspect them. So we got to talking and I told him I would love to bee hives on my property but if someone else took care of them. He said he would see what he could do. 5 minutes later he was knocking on my door again. He had found someone close by that couldn't keep their bee hives on their property and would love to put them on ours!!!!! Apparently a neighbor or relative is deathly afraid of bees.![]()
Mine! Mine! Mine! I claim sideswap eggs right now. Those are beautiful!Mine will be here next month.I am getting 6 Tiger Bronze:![]()

Off to do research on Loquat and see their hardiness. I bet they won't grow here though.Do you have any Loquat trees growing yet? They take a few years to start producing fruit but boy is it tasty. Nice big green leaves for shade and the chickens love the fruit.
Nope, but am now on the hunt for some.
thanks to both of you!
I would love to have bees but my DH thinks it would be "dangerous" for the grandchildren........I think he's afraid of them but he won't admit it. Our, then 6 year old, grandson sat with me outside a mining bee entrance last fall and we watched and talked about them as they went about their business. I think a hive would be a great lesson for them.....maybe one of these days I'll talk him into it.Morning peeps. I feel like crude this morning. I should have stayed home instead of coming to work. Might be a short day.

The boxes... these Horizon boxes are cool!! I have not received live birds before, so this was kind of an adventure=) I live within a couple miles of the PO, so the ride home was short...

oh, wow that's cool! I would love to have someone want to put bees on my property! I just don't want to take on another project. but having them here would be great! from what I understand, they have been depopulated big time by some bee bug.Morning peeps. I feel like crude this morning. I should have stayed home instead of coming to work. Might be a short day.

Maybe start with someone else's hives on your property. They take care of them and you get the benefit of the bees. Plus it is so much fun watching them come and go, seeing the different color pollen. The ones we had loved our chestnut trees. And they are pretty much harmless since you won't be the one going into them.I would love to have bees but my DH thinks it would be "dangerous" for the grandchildren........I think he's afraid of them but he won't admit it. I am wanting to plant a couple trees in my chickens free range area. Anyone have any suggestions or "no-nos"?
Put an ad on CL or contact your local Bee Keeping Association. There is always someone wanting to expand their bee keeping.oh, wow that's cool!
