Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I have been tempted to buy stuff from other users on RBA but, I just can't bring myself to do it. I know if I get eggs/chicks from you guys--- I get quality. I know if I get them from GFF-- I get quality. I don't like hatcheries at all, I used to get my meat/egg birds from hatcheries and after way too many bad things happening I just won't do it anymore. I got a few light brahmas from tractor supply a month ago and they had coccodiosis (I know.. not spelled right) and I had to quarantine them and the chicks I had put with them and they eventually all died. NO MORE!
I do not give my chickens medicated feed, antibiotics, growth hormones and/or vaccinations and I will keep it that way. If a chicken gets sick and natural stuff don't work- he will be culled.

But, anyway...Reese... I am so sorry!! Hugs to you!

BTW.... speaking of RBA... so glad the business deal that fell through is ending tonight!--- seems a bit fishy

Morning All.

Will share pictures later, but we have had a goosey explossion over here. Lots of Dewlap Toulouse in Grey & Buff, Sebastopols in White, Grey (split buff), and Buff too. have 3 more eggs in lock down, 3 more waiting to move to lock down. A 1 day break and back to goose hatching again.

We had another duck explossion as well, lol Luckily many will ship out next week and we will be empty again.

By explosion, I hope you mean, they exploded in production and not an EXPLOSION in the incubator.

Just an update…I am coming to terms with the whole MG thing. It is not the end of the world. And because it is so mild of a version of it, (just the occasional sneeze) I am not going to even medicate at this point. Why risk it developing a resistance to the Antibiotics? I may need them later to be as potent as possible if a bird is weakened and becomes susceptible for some reason.

I have unsubscribed from all of the swap threads…even if I offer paypal or pysanky, I can’t just hatch willy-nilly and figure I can get rid of anything in excess of what I want to keep for myself. I have to be more judicious l because once they are here they have to stay here or go to freezer camp. (maybe I will name my farm “hotel California farm!”)

And now I can just love my chickens for who they are, not worry about breeding criteria and making the best choice of who to keep to breed. They all lay eggs, right? And if I want to get a chicken breed because it is pretty, I will get just one to add to the colorful bouquet that is my flock.
I will never have to separate anyone out for breeding. They can all free range all the time. Much simpler day-to day.

Yeah, it isn’t what I planned. I can’t contribute to helping the dorking breed become what they once were or become a respected Barnevelder breeder. I cant play with newly hatched chicks on a regular basis. But life doesn’t always go the way you think it will and I am a lot luckier than a lot of people. I am going to stay subscribed to this thread because I like you guys way beyond just the swapping thing. Yes, I am sad I can’t join in, but I can still share your lives in a small cyber way and I consider myself lucky to have found this group.

And who knows….maybe they will discover a cure someday!

Ok, I am peeved. The box of my missing Bantam Chocolate orps showed up today and 2 of the 9 were dead. But I think I know why they were delayed now. They were not shipped in a usps Approved box. They were shipped in a Express Mail Box with holes cut out. Also I bought 9 Chocolate Orps not splits. 2 of them are not chocolate they might be splits but the auction said chocolates not splits. There was no bedding in the box just newspaper laid on the bottom. The top and bottom of the box are so wet that can't believe the box didn't fall apart. I mean I thought they were a reputable seller. But I doubt I will ever buy from them again.

Warning Some Pics May be Graphic

WHAT???? How did the Post Office even allow that box to come through?????????????????????????????????? I would DEFINITELY complain!
