Coffekittie my styrofoam bator held heat and humidity great. It seems to help if you cover it up i kept mine wrapped up with a giant bath towel.

Good morning.

Well, for everyone else... I am sick. Sore throat, body aches, and nausea. Awesome. At least my husband is home today, not like that helps much...

I have 7 black Dutch bantams for AyeUpChuck. Planning on hopping them today, but they are so small and I don't have any "peanuts" to ship with them. I have 18 hour heating packs, which isn't long enough. She has had a electronic free weekend, so I haven't even able to talk to her about why we should do.
Should I;
A. Ship as is.
B. Ship to her when they have grown out.
C. Do another hatch. My BDB where not laying to well when I set the eggs

I have the box and everything, and since the agreement was to ship out today, I will... But I dot like the thought of shipping 7 tiny bantam chicks with only 18 hours of heat all the way to oregon

Saw if you're not comfortable shipping, then don't.  AyeUpChuck WILL UNDERSTAND!

Well, I kind of figure, since I was going to express them anyway... It would cost much more to ship them in like two weeks instead of now. But I also don't want to force her to take birds that are older for bio security reasons. These have not had any contact with any other chicks,but she might feel better having them now.

Last box I sent to OR and ID were there over night. However I am not up where you are here in FL and we hub out of Orlando so we have less down time and more flights.

No matter when your first time shipping live birds is you will be nervous and nothing will get you over it. However if you are that nervous, then dont send them and send her a message. If you need a better heat pack I have cases of 30 and 72 hour packs I can send you one today, its likely to be in your hands tomorrow or Wednesday. You can use it to ship them out once you receive it.

What time is the pick up for express where you are? They said here 1 pm.

I am sure you are right, no matter what I will be nervous. Probably should have shipped a bigger chick for my first time shipping. I thought I'd feel ok about it, since I have a good box, a straw matt, gro gel, and a 72 heating pad... Now the chicks are here and they are so tiny and my son thought the heating pad was Easter chocolate :/ :lol:

glad I have some self control on adding new chicken breeds. I try and keep it to a minimum, or sell off a flock to allow for a new flock.

we have to build day yards for the goslings we have started holding back to grow out. They stay here until October when we select new breeding stock and sell off the rest

Self control what's that. LOL
We have 6 acres the horses get about 2 and 1 acre for the goats and the chickens about1.5 LOL.
