Sorry krafty about your rabbits . we had to put our dogs in lockdown after they killed lots of chickens.
late night building borders.... then i had to watch Dallas so... this morning i am dragging. went to Starbucks after i dropped my son at school and got a venti iced coffee and trenta black tea. come on day....bring it on!

Morning all ............... Last goslings are out with enough down time to scrub the drawers in the hatcher and reload for the next round of geese who are right on track. Nothing like back to back to back lock downs. Glad the season is almost done

Bad day...
On my way out the door to work, and went to take some lettuce to my rabbits. Cage was broken into. Only the boy is left. My husbands dog got the blue girl, I am not sure if the other one got away or he got her too.

So so sorry, hope the missing girl returns.

My chickens will have to be to if they want to survive winters with me. Lol watch out ladies when I start trading eggs you won't need an incubator but a refigorater to hatch them.

But no really it's not so bad I mean out summers get up to 80 degrees sometimes. Sure we get 65 below in the winter but that's just a good excuse to sit around the fireplace with the dog and a good cup of tea.

Problem with shipping eggs to or from way up there is Priority mail makes the eggs worthless when they finally arrive, and express ran me $40 for a dozen eggs we recently sent to Alaska.

And maybe some really exciting polish in June.

I have seen others in Alaska that don't use heat and their chickens survive just fine. They adapt. Welcome to our swap! We love new victims swappers!

So we were building the new chicken coop on Saturday.
And let me preface this with: we don’t have flat land. It is all about a 1:4 grade. Sometimes makes things challenging.

But I cant do anything simple. It has to be cute. So I designed a 6x6 coop on 4 foot stilts (so the dogs and goats can shelter underneath) with a pyramid hip roof and a copula.

We were working on the steep side with an a-frame ladder, putting the roof panels up. I was holding the plywood while DH was fastening it down to the rafters and the ladder slips out from under him.

It all happened in slow motion, but I couldn’t move fast enough to do anything. He landed hard on top of the ladder, which bent like a pretzel. He hit is face on the ground but was otherwise not seriously banged up…one of his shins got pretty scraped and I am sure he has to have bruises. He bit his lip. But he said he didn’t need to go to the hospital. After a bit we soldiered on.

Later that night, he got chills…shuddering chills. Could not get warm. It wasn’t that cold and he’s the type to run around the house in shorts in the winter. Very weird for him.

Anyone know: Could a head blow do that?
It’s been a few days and he’s fine, but I still am wondering.

was it recently since the USPS "changes" in service and how long priority takes to get anywhere? FL to AK express was next day.................... same box sent priority was 8 days later

Shipping to Alaska is unpredictable at best. Sometimes it gets here super fast and sometimes you get your birthday present a month after you were supposed to even though it was posted for three weeks before your birthday.
