I'm so tempted to buy another one! Just so I can get to those turkey eggs sooner. All this talk of them has got me way to excited about having my own great big Tom or hen running about my little farm stead.

Ah but turkeys are like potato chips....one leads to another and so forth until well then you have to start getting different breeds and....

:celebrate   Glad they made it! Hope they are all well!
Turn around and resell it as "almost new" and buy a bigger one. You could always check Craigslist.

A three-egg incubator (IMO) is a waste of money and time.   If you get eggs shipped all the way to Alaska, and only have room for 3 or 4 eggs, there is a huge chance that you will not get any chicks. A Little Giant is only around $35-$45, and it will hold about 40 chicken eggs. I have 25 duck and goose eggs (only 3 are ducks), which are HUGE in mine and still have room for a few more. It is a little tricky to figure out, but I have gotten pretty good hatches with mine.

Yup, you can always sell any extra birds you hatch, and that way you get a better variety. Plus it's fun, addicting, and BM6 is not enabling in anyway....LOL

If they are real head bangers put a soft top on the cage so they don't bring themselves. If there is any blood. Blue Kote em quick they will pick.

Buttons either need a fair bit of space or to be in pairs.
Also since you might look at this did you get my pm?
:frow   Good Morning Crazy Chickie Friends!!

Oh, Krafty, I am so sorry!!!  I think I have probably over-extended what turkey hugs can do.  But, I will send them anyway!!!!  On the upside, replacement box being packed as we speak.  I think I will upgrade to a larger box.  Maybe wine and chocolate are in order for this week??  What turkey hugs can't cure, Shiraz and chocolate can.

Yes, when I fell down the stairs and got a very nasty hit to the head, I had the shakes and shivers for about a week.  Are there any other clues.  I was really confused and dizzy.

So, I have learned in the last 12 hours that there is a bit of a learning curve with quail.  They are definately not chickens!!!!  They are mathematical wizards of escaping unimaginably small spaces and smacking their tiny heads.  I cannot believe they didn't get out in the airport and run amuk on them because it was the first thing they did here despite all of my very careful preparations and cautious box opening.  They are beautiful and make the coolest sounds.  Anyway, any advice for the quail novice?

well, I got my chicks....out of 15...5 DOA, 1, I know is not going to make it and 3 or 4 are iffy

but I did get them a couple drops of vitamins and they are drinking some sugar water, that I mixed up for them, so we will see...my first go around with live chicks, I don't think I will be doing it again...the box stank so badly I am surprised any of them made it.

Morning all! Thank you all for ideas and support about my car. It makes me feel a little better knowing I am not unreasonable for being upset about it.

I have five chicks in the bator. The sixth one zipped part way then quit. Number five may have some issues, I may need to splint her foot but I am letting her rest until tonight.

sorry you had a bad experience with shipping lives, dont give up though. Even though we have shared horror stories lately, the USPS does "NORMALLY" get it right with live birds
