Those breeds seem to sell very well around here.

I would also add that since she will probably be selling mostly to the kitch market of city/town dwellers you should see what is mostly looked for in your area.

I personally would go for anything that doesn't have a single comb. Since frost bite can reduce fertility.

No roosters! I

listening to all the crowing coming from down the hill where the coops are. That would be sadly depressing.
Yep....I live in the city!!! No roosters, I wish. Some day I will move out the country and peace and quiet. But my little urban farm experiment has really been an adventure!! I was definatly think about SFH's. Everyone her is swedish!!! I begin to hatch enough!!!! I am trying to sell the parents on turkeys.....

first off, I think this is an awesome idea! Go Profti! I think Orpingtons are the best- they are well known- almost everyone wants them- they lay very reliably- and they come in so many new colors! Its better than having a shoe collection! My orps are all sweethearts and come up to me and let me handle them and I have never had a rooster that was mean to me or my kids- or anyone else for that matter.
What kind of Orpingtons do you think? There are so many!

Jubilee seem to be the most sought after as far as rare but not rarest goes. Buff orps are the most popular with common chicken people. Lavender seems to be the most popular right now- maybe a little overdone.

Let em play with Gabby. They'll be sold soon enough.

Oh yah aye! They really are from Sweden you say?

Any thoughts on Dwarf Orlandsk for this project? These Swedish people seem keen on Swedish birds.

Olandsk are really wonderful and lay a larger bantam egg for a tiny one pound chicken. I love mine.

Here's some pictures I posted on the olandsk thread

I would say no two are alike but I have two young girls that are like twins. They're the ones in the preening picture.

They would be good, and so would Hedemora. Icelandics would be good too for cold hardiness. Those landrace birds come in such a wide variety of colors.
