REALLY weird question... has anyone ever had a hen crow? My MF D'Uccle "hen"just crowed. It doesn't have any roo qualities, flirts with the roo, and is by all means a "hen", but I just walked in in the middle of her/it crowing...
I've heard of hens crowing before. Usually when no rooster is present though.

I will be creating a second swap page. This page will be for items I have to swap which includes Disney movies and general things around my house I wish to get rid of. Stay tune!

I have always heard if a hen crows it is bad luck.

I know others have varying opinions.  I am into that stuff.  Absolutely love it and find it fascinating.  My husband calls me a closet goth.  I just can't do all the black garb.  I was never into the normal stuff.  Hated barbies.  I'm a pagan which isn't something I tell a lot of people due to the stigmatism that goes along with being one.  I've always been into the abnormal.

The one doll they had was sold but I so wanted it.  It's was a new born baby boy with a vampire bite.

I could have written the above paragraph. Except the doll part. I can admire them from afar, lol.

On the pipe coop idea. The 48" 20' pipe is $1125. That is $225 per coop for a 4x4ish coop. Not sure it is worth the investment to see if I can make it work. Still debating as it is around the same cost as the wood and materials for my other idea, but would be a bit quicker.

Which is going to last longer though: the pipe coop or a wooden one? Quicker is not always better.

My Sicilian Buttercup Bantams have gone broody on me. Two of the three are currently co-brooding in their elevated coop. I don't want to leave them their because of the hole in the floor. I'm afraid the chicks will fall through. Anyone have quick ideas as to a simple broody coop for a couple of bantam hens and chicks? They are sticking to the nest like glue so far, and both of them lightly peck me to express their displeasure with being disturbed. LOL

These are my first broodies and from the one breed I have that is NOT supposed to go broody. I'm sure the cause was the fact that the whole time we were at the Mayo clinic my daughters didn't collec tthe eggs. Every cage had over a dozen eggs in it which DH had to throw away. He was NOT a happy camper.
