If you are on the PA Unite thread you are getting a repeat.

I spent the day building bottoms and platforms for my breeding pens. I also built a 8'x22"x22" brooder for in the sunroom. In order to build the bottoms and platforms, we had to clean out some of the shed. Cleaned out the old dog kennel for the KCs. I really am beat. I am about ready for bed.

It's still a dump, but we are getting there. We are still dealing with the other peoples' junk and garbage. This shed was used as a dumpster for all the household garbage - literally. Dewey said I can have the shed for a chicken coop since it has electricity and it's close to the house. The back left corner will be 4 or 5 pens for the LFs and a grow out pen. The right, where the cages are now, will be where my feed and shaving will be. The front right will be cleaned out and shelves removed (man door and cat door is behind the shelves) for more small breeding pens like I have now. I will have 2 pen setups like on the left front in that corner. I may even build another row up the middle in the front.

And then the new brooder...

I didn't get to clean Byron's pen out and add his daughters yet. I didn't get a load of shavings either. My truckload from last year is just about gone. I didn't get the pet taxis and cages (the dog crates) cleaned. I didn't clean the house...

I did hatch some chocolate bantam Orps, bantam Cochins, Ameraucanas and a couple ducks today. There are a few more pipped ans zipped. Oh, that brooder is being put to good use!
Wow, looks like you had a really busy day.... congrats on getting so much accomplished!

There were no holds involed
All I said that I was thinking about getting some quail to release onto my property.
He offered me 10 hatched Febuary 16th for 75$
I said "that's a bit Rich for my blood." I'll see if I can snag some in a swap thread.

I guess ishouldhave been More elaborate on my meaning of to rich for my blood.
Like explaining that the price may have been fair just not at this juncture.

I don't mean to be rude, and I could be wrong about bobwhite s. But releasing coturnix quail outside is a death sentence. Before you try it again, double check. If I am wrong I apologize, but mexico and Texas and the Caribbean are a different enviornment. There are so many unrelated species called quail its stupid. What is good for one is not good for another. It is like saying ferrite and dogs are the same thing.

Looks like a cherry blossom tree. I lived in Japan for three years, the cherry blossom festival was my favorite time of year...

My mil is Japanese. She now has a Japanese resteraunt in Baja California. She's a bold, bold, woman.

Sorry I didn't quote it about the Wheaten roo over Orps.... I just wanted to let you know wheaten is a RECESSIVE gene and will not express the first generation. Really you will just get BBS EE chicks (not Olive you need a dark layer like a Marans) The second generation bread BACK to the Wheaten roo will produce some wheaten looking chicks.

Fluffy chicks with beards would be TOO Cute! And would lay pretty green eggs too.

Just wanted to put this out there if anyone wants a side swap, not sure what I would swap for but give it a try. Silver Seabrights nice quality ones..... guinea eggs maybe. TRY ME.... PP work too LOL

I have
18 BBS Copper Marans eggs
32 Lav/Split/White Am eggs (I just hatched 7- 5 lavs 1 split and maybe 1 white still looks lav but has more yellow)
12 maybe more SBEL from both pens (lav Roo x WL and CCL roo over WL crossed with Exchequer and WL's) most from the Lav pen
4 Olive Eggers Black Split Am covered by BCM roo
9 New Hampshires (GNH hens x Reg NH roo)
9 Cuckoo Marans (I am going to be moving some birds around in that pen soon so I will not have these fro a few weeks after the move)

I am getting LOADS of these eggs everyday and can't keep up. I have been getting nearly 10-15 eggs a day from the Marans

Might be selling some pullets out of that pen.

Is anyone having any luck selling Olive Egger Chicks? I can't seem to GIVE them away right now am I the only one? I had people ask for them but so far no takers. I think I hatched my last batch today. Might have to wait and sell the pullets when they are older.
