Quote: I guess he was raised with them, or a duck was its foster mother...lol, I thought it was pretty cool too.
susan, I have heard that you could put them in a cage that is hanging from the ceiling, something about the cool air on their hineys and the twirling of the cage breaks them...I don't know if it works or not, I have only had broody turkeys
More adventures in turkey land.....My lilac turkey decided to go for a nice little swim in the humidity bucket of my Sportsman! My roommate was being "helpful" by filling my water bucket on my incubator and left the lid off. I was feeding the other brooder, turned around and there was a little lilac swimming in circles in the bucket just like a little duckling. I didn't know turkeys could swim!!!! He was pretty proud of himself. Needless to say, the lid has been tightly duck taped (no pun intended) to the top of bucket in case someone else decides to take a little dip.
Quote: lol...you and me both!
gnite all
Ok, so I was a bit behind......
Sounds like my guy friends. I've learned a lot though hanging out with them. I can tell a diesel brand by sound now and the diff between a 12 and 24 valve Dodge. Gotta come in handy someday!
You know, I'd almost talked myself out a of a CCL flock, but every time I see one I talk myself back into it!
Ohh! Wonder if ours here does too!
It's always the Sat ones. I got sent a swap package on Sat this weekend, and the guy stuffed it in my mailbox that is on the highway!! Realllllly? I'm darn happy the surprise goose eggs that were in there were fine!
I have a broody Lucy too! She's a Light Brahma, and her little ones are due this weekend. Going to build a nice brooder pen for her this week...
Wow! Then you'll get the double stalk for soaps and eggs!
ooo yea that's a truth. maybe ill bring that up to themMaybe they are afraid of freezing the eggs? June sounds "safer".. Perhaps you could offer to pay extra for a heating pad or double boxing with heating pads.. those eggs are really small and I have heard they don't like temperature changes much...
