Sorry to hear about your chicks. To me 55% seems high for days 1-18. I keep mine between 30-40. In ld I boost it to between 60-65%

I dry incubate* until LD, then 60-70% humidity....get much better hatches now. And, from what I have read 45-65 degrees is optimum for storage
Thanks for the reply I will try the dry incubate next round. so far 5 live 3 dead and when I got ready to toss all the other eggs one is trying to hatch and peeped so I will give it till tonight. I don't expect it to make it but I don't wanna toss a hatching egg in the trash. Last hatch I had less water so I know that was it. They are at week 4 and doubled in size in a week so today I left the cage open to let them go out to meet the other chickens.

Problems with Ebay eggs sounds familiar, I got some off Ebay and they were stuck in a sort facility for 3 days = low hatch . Lady was sorry even though it was not her fault and shipped a batch free that the post office kicked and beat for the fragile = kick me sign. she had them bubble wrapped in packing peanuts in two boxes and one egg was cracked when I got it, none hatched. I see she no longer sells eggs and I can't blame her. I sold a tractor for repair or parts and never saw a dime, just excuses and a canI re tact the bid note. Somebody from the same town sent me a message trying to low ball me on it. I said NO and do say hello to your jack wagon inbred brother. But I still use Ebay and even got my wife an SUV for $4000 under book so go figure. Good luck to all having hatches today

Good morning peeps!! It's been an awesome weekend. I woke up to new baby buns this morning. Couldn't get an accurate count but it looks like 6 so far.
Congrats on your first little of bunnies!!

Morning Chickies!
More rain for today. Why is it that rain just makes you want to sleep? lol DH and I have to sit down today and figure out something for the walkway between all the runs. Shelby took a fall down there last night b/c it was so wet and the goose poop makes it like one big slipnslide. Thinking gravel, but not sure how much we have left to use and how much more we might need. The grass does not seem to want to grow back with the dogs patrolling through there and then all the ducks and geese thinking that is a buffet. Any idea's?

We are going to lay down pallets and cover with either PT Playwood or PT lumber and paint with oil based paint and scatter the grip grit they use on garage floors or sand for grip.

you can do the same thing with landscape timbers and boards across as a "boardwalk" type walkway. Easy to clean and replace boards that become worn or broken over time

Good morning! The sun is finally shining again!

I need to move the baby Rhodes and Lemon Cuckoos out of the house and into the new brooder cages out in the shed....but I am having a hard time putting them where I am not going to have a constant eye on them....is that weird? If it were just some regular old breed/color, I would have no problem kicking em out...lol!
(note to self, quit being stupid and get the birds out of the house!)

We got some flash floods yesterday at the farm. My son just called to tell me part of the drive got washed away at the street with debris in the yard. I think that is the first time that creek has flooded since the "GREAT FLOOD of 2010" that was 18 inches of rain in 3 day. We may have gotten 8 inches yesterday. Two waves of rain. The first one was nice easy rain, but lots of it. Then the storms last night that put down 3 inches more in a few mins. Muddy runs for a few day

Hubby is going to help me clean big brooders today. Maybe I can get this last hatch out of the hatcher today too. BTW I hatched 12/13 that made it to LD from Papa Brooders eggs. MFL he shipped 18 eggs maybe 2 where clear the rest developed I was very excited to see that. I got 7/5 from 2 different pens should be enough to get enough to breed without inbreeding

I also hatched a few Exchequers too and FINALLY some Silkies.

I have bought a quad of Eng Orps. 1 black roo 1 black/2 Blue Hens. I just hatched 7 from these birds too. Kinda excited about these. I have 2 from Papa Brooder's Choc Project. 1 roo and 1 pullet. Both are black (the roo could be split)

We got our trailer road ready so I can get some boxes to make my stackable brooder boxes. Might even be able to work on some pens for these trios and quads.

Have a good day everyone!

So if I want to get Oxine, am I getting it as the kit that comes with Citric acid? Is that for it to be activated? I am still on the fence about this one...and I am not sure why...

Okay, what the heck just happened?? All of GFF's auctions on RBA just disappeared! I show no bids under current bids either! What the heck????

Haven't been in here for a while! Spring is busy busy around here. Let's see...

Heather- you'll be sad to know that Barbie went to her new home- but happy to know she's with her own kind of cattle now and that she and the bull were in love at first sight :)

My Shetland ewe had twin lambs, they're very cute! And thus far, they stay in my fence... shocking after having goat kids before!

Lots of projects going on, but not as interesting as those two things :)

Hope everyone's doing well!
