I have 2 pretty nicely colored roos growing out. I don't have any pullets BUT I do have some Cuckoos that are Birchen looking so I will cross those two to get some pullets. Kinda excited to see what I get. I do like the birchen look... hoping it will be a tad easier to work with than coppers. I know egg color will be an issue. I don't have any gold issues.... they are a little cream colored but that is different and workable.

Could someone explain to me what the big deal is about breeding crested to crested with SFH??? It's done all the time with CCL.
Most people's problem is with a vaulted skull- I have never had a SFH with vaulted skull have any problems- ever. Silkies have vaulted skull and its no big deal to them- I don't get it either. I have both crested and non crested in my flock and love them all. My roo is crested and I still get crested and non crested. I myself love the crest- and for those that think they have issues with not being able to see- I have a girl that is very quick to notice everything that goes on around and her crest is huge!

Two of my SFH girls have HUGE crests and vaulted skulls. They are quite beautiful, but unfortunately, one of the girls is pretty low in the pecking order. We have to be very careful with her. If she gets pecked in the head, it's immediately lights out. It has happened several times, and I'm worried about what is going to happen if we're not around to pick her up until she comes around. She was trampled in the mud before we could get to her once, and I really thought we would lose her. My husband thinks she loses a few brain cells each time. Poor honey. She isn't even in with any aggressive birds. Maybe I'll put her in with the silkies.

Because of the vaulted skull issue, I will not breed crested to crested. My poor lil honey with the off button won't be in a breeding pen either.

COF I thought you culled your whole flock of guinea?

My hubby is really liking the guinea. He has not had a tick yet. I might need to set more eggs soon.
