Flocks, I'm hoping you're right! That's the direction I was leaning too, but with the SFHs I have a hard time telling till they're pretty well grown :) And yes, Walli's birds are fabulous! Tons of color and tons of personality -- they're constantly underfoot, wanting to know what I'm doing

I need to get more pictures but I swear they're all camera-shy!

Turkey update -- both still pipped, one beginning to chip assiduously at her (his?) shell. Third egg still quiet :(

Brad, my personal industry standard (of course I've been spoiled by this swap!) is zero broken eggs. Maybe one (out of six or seven). Have you contacted the seller yet? It's not necessarily their fault -- the post office can be really rough. How was the packing? And have you tried contacting the seller yet?

TURKEYS!!!! I couldn't possibly go to bed, and I'm glad I didn't because they were all slightly shrink-wrapped. Helped them with the zipping and left them to push themselves out and they are now flopping around the hatching tray, yay! And I'm going to bed

Is there an "industry standard" or acceptable percentage of broken eggs received from shipping? I understand 50% hatch rate with shipped eggs are good, but what's the cut off for broken eggs? BTW, this has nothing to do with eggs purchased/swapped off this thread and BYC in general. I purchased 75+ quail eggs from eBay. Received 85, atleast 17 were broken. Haven't finished candling to see if any are cracked. So all the extras plus were broken. I'm leery of leaving negative feedback as 1: I don't know if this is an acceptable number of brokens, and 2: don't want seller to retaliate with negative feedback on myself even though I paid quickly, etc.

Couple questions. Was the box damaged in any way? Smashed, footprints, etc? How were the eggs packaged? Well packed eggs generally don't break unless the box is severely damaged. If the packaging was poor than regardless of whether they leave me negative or not I would let everyone know the packaging was poor!

I've got two possums eating my free rangers feed...
Well now there is only one left, the other got away while I was disposing of his friend...he'll be back and I'll be waiting.

G'morning peeps!! I have my first ever white bresse/NN OE chick and it is adorable!!!! It hatched yellow with a little naked neck. If anyone wants some eggs let me know, I'll ship some to you if you pay shipping.

Looks like I've got an extra Welsummer cockerel from Whitmore Farms that I don't need. I'm asking $15 for him, but I can't ship. These were hatched early March. If anyone wants him, I can meet you part way. :)

here are some pictures of the packing material. The box has damage however hard to tell when it occurred as they reused an old box. Essentially the eggs were placed on quail egg flats, a piece of "fiber fill" (I think that's what mom calls it lol) on top of eggs, and then the top wrapped in bubble wrap. Two flats were placed in the box with peanuts all around (under, around, between, etc).

I have contacted the seller and got this, "So sorry to hear that. We dont have many broken and the extras almost always cover them". Surprisingly they weren't all covered with egg goo either. I tossed a couple that had a minimal amount on them, but a lot less than I expected.

Looks like there was nothing protecting the egg from the egg carton itself. Those cartons aren't meant to ship eggs in unprotected like that.
