I would gladly take the risk of shipped chicks! You don't have to wait three whole weeks for the cuteness(but I would also be willing to accept that some died, too)!
Maybe make the new rule that if 6 chicks are offered and they arrive within the time specified, then at least 6 chicks must be alive or replacements must be sent? It would discourage people from offering chicks unless they were prepared to ship them safely and carefully.
very good, GREAT suggestion, leave it to you to be the voice of reason.

Regarding chicks/ducklings I would be willing to take the chance so long as the sender is NPIP. I'm planning to have my flock checked soon and wouldn't be able to accept anything from non-NPIP participants. Could we have the posters please post this information for eggs as well? I wouldn't want to invalidate the NPIP status once I have it done.

On another note, sad to say I had to toss the most of the eggs from broken air cells. Kinda surprising since I rarely have broken air cells from shipped eggs come in. Sadly the tolbunts took a beating and 4 out of 6 had to be tossed, and 5 out of 8 serama eggs joined them in the trash. Bummer..now crossing my fingers for lots of hens and hopefully a silkied serama ;)

Ok this embarrassing but I'd rather tell then have some one have a bad egg. I sent some here duck eggs. I just candled mine that were set the same time and I had 2 stinkers. I'm pretty sure I candled BEFORE I sent them but just in case. I get them from my friend and sometimes his wife washes the eggs even though we tell her not to.

On the bright side I did just hatch some of those cute scovies and got chocolate, chocolate and white and lavender and white.

Please check your eggs!!

paypal can also be the primary offer.
Sorry, I meant that as well, i just meant that as long as chicks weren't the only option

Well if the rules turns out to be you have to resend them if some die or even all I myself would not offer any chicks up ever. It is not the senders fault more than half the time. Most the time it is the post office. If the rule should be that you have to resend the chicks then why wouldn't there also be a rule set that you have to resend the eggs that broke during shipping also. I think this rule would detour a lot of us. It is a risk that we all take when we ship any Eggs/Chicks.

The buyer should not hold all the liability. Regardless of whose fault it is the seller should share that liability. With any purchase the seller is responsible for that item arriving in good condition in the buyer's hands. Why should eggs or chicks be any different? Many people replace eggs or chicks if damaged or killed during the shipping process. We all know its common practice to send extras in case of damage. There is no rule for that here I assume because it has never been addressed, and perhaps isn't needed at this time. But, I could be wrong.

Okay, but nobody is the buyer here. This is a Swap...... There is a differance. You are not paying to get the birds or to have them shipped to you. Even if you buy birds or eggs most reputable breeders will not replace for dead birds or broken eggs just because it is a risk.

I personally wouldn't consider a breeder reputable if I received broken eggs or dead chicks and they told me to shove it. jmho. Yeah its a swap, I still give value and expect to receive value. Same concepts should apply.

I am not gonna bicker, this is gonna get us into trouble but you are in the wrong place then. Just because this is a swap. Sorry if you think we should be held responsible for the post office mishaps for eggs/chicks we are giving away to share with others.

Seems you have a problem with ever rule change and offer. jmo
