CPL, are you able to approve my PP that I sent to Heather, since she is not available today??

KYT, you'll still have your SFH's in early spring, won't you???
Oh yes, God willing, I will have my SFH in the spring. With any luck, I'll have a few more. I have one pullet that should start laying in another month or so - a very pretty black one.

Oh, those black ones are soooo pretty!! Maybe I'll just have to wait for some eggs from her

Once the isbars start to show up, it is going to be fun to watch.

I've read that the rare breeds suffer from higher mortality due to limited gene pool. If this is the case, it is going to take more eggs to get healthy chicks.
I have already had that experience with Isbars...only chick to hatch was very sickly, small, and came out without an absorbed yolk and it's intestines outside of its body. I have never seen a chick look that poorly coming out of the egg it was really sad

Are there breeding programs to enlarge their gene pool without changing the breed's desired characteristics? I have only started to incubate eggs this summer but all the chicks (all common breeds) I have hatched are healthy and thriving. Sorry to hear about your experience.
