Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Nobody wants my eggs or my PayPal??? After the frenzy, I thought PayPal would at least get a bite... :(
I'd take your PayPal if my hens would cooperate! They are on STRIKE since I separated them into breeding pens. Not really sure what to do about it. I went from 3-4 eggs per breed per day (4-5 hens per breed) to only 1 egg per breed in the entire week since I separated them.

Question for everyone - I know it is recommended to wait 3 weeks after separating to be sure you are getting pure eggs. What if they don't lay much during the 3 week period? Do I need to extend that time frame?

Now what would be REALLY GREAT would be if those of us that get lost and confused easily (anyone says "old" and I'll thump 'em with my wooden teeth!) could have free choice pick swap --- what would we really wish we could be fast enough for...... SFH, CCL, Eng Orps, SQ buff Orps, etc., things that seem to start a stampede.... of "mines" =:~)

just kiddin' or just sayin?

is this fun or what, k/
I've been trying to think of ways we could do like a contest or raffle with the prize being a really coveted swap...something where we could maybe raise a few $ for charity or something and the winner gets some great eggs. Or just do a contest for fun with the prize being great eggs...if we did a raffle the person donating the eggs could even be compensated out of the pot, not sure how we would be able to do this online...but it could potentially be a way that we could get people who aren't able to lurk the thread the opportunity to get some of the swaps they really want. Like maybe we do a "giveaway" where people enter, and the winning person just gets to be the receiver of the swap or something like that...

I did find this site www.rafflecopter.com and I created an example, but not sure if we would be able to use it and be in keeping with BYC terms or not...and I don't know if anyone has interest in doing this but just an idea...

This is the code for the widget for my example giveaway but it's not working and I'm not sure why...

give everyone that buys a raffle a # then have all those numbers in a hat and pull one out and thats the winner, you could even web camera the pulling of the number.

Sorry to hear that! I know how that goes. About 2 weeks ago, mine went down to laying only 2-3 eggs per breed each day. I turned a light on in the coop about 5-6 days ago and the past few days, they have picked back up...

tdhenson... I have duck eggs that are internally pipped ! I should have ducklings any day now !!!

Yeah I could just do it the old fashioned way for sure. We would need to pick a charity, have someone offer up the prize (assuming they will be compensated out of the pot), and go from there...does anyone object to doing this on this thread? Are people interested in doing something like this?
