Been there, done that.. I'm losing too much sleep hoping not to miss something, haha, but I think I might be able to slow down a little now, lol!

LOL I can't claim any eggs to set immediately (bators will be full the next couple of weeks), but I sure am dying to claim a couple of things for spring.

I received eggs from DMRippy today!!! I haven't been able to completely unpack them because I'm at work, but I think they all made it through the horrors of the USPS. Great packing job, Donna! Thanks for the extra!

Haha, I think I need a spreadsheet to figure out when to have my eggs shipped to keep them rotated through the bator, that or buy a cabinet bator... DH would disown me, haha

Just wanted everyone to know that I have 8 out of 10 Buff orps going into lockdown tomorrow from Tdhenson!! My duck eggs are growing really well too!

Ok, another question for you all...

I happened across a thread that talked about not turning shipped eggs for their first 3 days in the bator to let the air cells stabliize, even after letting them rest before setting them.... what has your experience been and how long do you usually let your eggs rest?

For me it depends on what the air cells look like - I candle them upon arrival to see if they are detached or not. If detached, I do not turn for 5 days or so. I usually let them rest for 12-24hrs before going into the bator. Sometimes the air cells will reattach, but they have to be sitting upright. Otherwise, they could reattach in the wrong place and then little chance the egg will hatch...
