Seramas " big chickens in a little body"
. We keep our Serama in the garage, well we did, now after our "run in" with the health department they will be moving to the "pool room" tomorrow. Indiana health code does not allow chickens in the house or to share the same ventilation system as your home. Since one of our 2 heating systems is in the garage the Sermas have to move. The garage stays around 50 even in the Winter and this was fine for the Seramas. The room they are moving to is a cinder block addition near our swimming pool with no heating. We are going to put in a milk house heater hopefully keeping it around 50 for them all Winter. The Summer hi temps were no problem for them even at 100+.I only have 2 Winters of Serama keeping in cold climate, since we have only been gone from California 2 years. Michelle (reesepoultry) has more experience in this department than myself.
If you want to know about Indiana health code and chickens in your house, I'm your gal, lol.
we have no chickens in the house!! We never did despite what the neighbors said. Now macaws and cuckatoo's, now that's a different story.
