Here are this week's current standings as of 8:00AM, Sat. Nov. 10. For all potential new swappers, we welcome your participation, but please read the rules on page 1, post #1 of this thread.

Game #1 - Whenever someone goes over 7 swaps, they lose 2 swaps the following week. The first person to catch it and post "Jinx"- (name of person going over), gets an extra swap in the current week. If crazypetlady (CPL) goes over, everyone gets an extra swap that week, and the first person to catch her and post "Jinx-CPL" gets a special prize of eggs from CPL. Start stalking!

CPL has gone over three times, so everyone gets 10 swaps this week!

Game #2 - Whoever claims the 50th, 75th, and 100th swap of the day (yes, I think we will get up that high this spring or before) will win an extra wild card swap to be used in the winner's week of choice.

OK, let me see if I can explain this better. Below is a list of the new swappers that still have to complete their initial 7 swaps, so are limited to one swap at a time until each one is verified. Once you have been cleared by crazypetlady, reesepoultry, kraftyladies, or coffeekittie for another swap, you may claim another, regardless of what my list says. I don't keep track of whose swaps have been verified, just the swappers that need to have that done. My list is only published once a night, but your swapping status may change a few times during the day. Once all of your 7 initial verified swaps are completed, your name will be moved to the big list. I may not have everyone's name here that is already swapping, but all new swappers will be added here until I hear differently. As long as all your previous swaps have been completed and verified, you are good to go! Happy swapping!

I just wanted to say I don't fully agree with completely wrapping shipping eggs in bubble wrap. I think doing so affects air exchange with in the egg. From eggs I have received at the same time (both coturnix) one was wrapped in bubble wrap and was was packed in a carton and shredded lappet. I had only a 10% hatch from bubble wrapped eggs, and 75% on carton packed eggs. I also accept that these hatch rates could have also been influenced by breeder practices, and USPS handling... But once I changed my own shipping practices, my buyers seemed to have better luck.
I do use bubble wrap, but a strip around the middle of the egg, then place the eggs in cartons and pack with shredded paper in and outside the carton.
That's just my opinion


I would really love to know how to ship chicks though. I see people offering them on the swap, and would really like to know how they do it, what they use and the expense of it

Also, I am on my way to a poultry show, which is terribly exciting for me cuz I have never been, and I fully plan on finding hatching eggs and maybe some new breeders for my flock. Too excited!!!!!!

Wow, nice roo DM!!! Mine are about 5 months old, I think one of my cockerels is a splash wheaten, I need to post a pic of him on the ameracauna thread and see what they say... My pullets should start laying while it's cold, it would be nice if they laid a few pullet eggs during the winter, then got right to the full-sized ones in time for shipping hatching eggs in spring

I don't have much experience with shipped eggs, but I've read in a few different places people talking about having better hatch rates when they are not totally wrapped in bubble-wrap, but with some breathing room, interesting that it would affect them, but it does make sense!!

Wheeeeeee! Just got done with the chicken show. There weren't any Covina as I wanted for sale, buiuuuuuutttt...
I got a Set of five Black Dutch Bantams for an absolute steal!! Rooster is show quality, there are three black hens and one blue hen,all 1 year old! Gould start laying once they get acclimated, then, hopefully (If people want the eggs) I can start trading!!
