I got one a month or so ago.... is that a new one?

I would think it would be OK to feed them starter as long as they have oyster shells. I would put it in the feed just to make sure they get it.

I got mine at the beginning of October. I haven't kept track of how often they send them out and was wondering if someone knew. I'm looking to buy a large order of feed and want to wait for my coupon to show up. I'm thinking it's every other month maybe.

Thank you. Chick starter is cheaper then Flock Raiser though I think it's the same protein level.

Does it decrease egg laying? I have been wondering about using starter grower to fatten up my chickens for the winter.

If your chickens free range do you still need to offer oyster shells when you are feeding the starter?

I always have oyster shell available. I figure they will eat it if they need it. The feed store here sells 50# for $5. I don't buy feed with shells in it as I feel that a waste of $$ since since feed is so expensive and shells are so cheap. If my girls eggs shells get weak, I mix it in feed, otherwise I just have it available.

My guineas spend most of their time free ranging as they can literally fly where ever they want, and they still come and gobble up the oyster shells when they come back to the barn. With that said, I think even birds that free ranch need oyster shells.

I got three identical SFH chicks from justtruttin eggs, except for this one has that has a cute topknot. Otherwise they are triplets!

Oh, great. Now I need Swedish Flower hens, too! CJ, that's the cutest thing I've ever seen!!!

^^^ yup, I need some of them too... Sigh

Luckily for me, I have had a bunch of Cochin babies pop out the last few days... It's keeping my urge to swap down a bit (ok, that and I bought new bantams yesterday... Alright alright, and I have some BBS cochin eggs coming this week...)

This is a wheaten Marans, and a blue Ameruacana that I hatched from eggs I bought off here. Sadly out of the 30 eggs that she shipped to me, only 6 hatched, but I got a couple of the ones I really wanted.

did srpaint post that she received my eggs? according to USPS they were delivered Friday. i am worried they were in bad shape or something. i used priority to ship on Monday but they took 4+ days to get there!

i sent her a PM but haven't heard back yet.
