For you Polish breeders out there. Is it worth it putting a light in my Polish coop? I really want to hatch some of their eggs but only one hen is laying and sporadically at best. The other 2 were but stopped. Are Polish good winter layers? If it will help I will put a light out there.

I'd say they are average winter layers. I would estimate I get 1 egg every 3-5 days from my Polish so they don't completely stop but I would not consider that good. I don't use lights so can't advise on that.

My mom has a big weeping willow at her house, they are such awesome trees, but not very strong branches, FYI.. especially the little ones, they just snap right off...

Wow, all the pics are awesome!! Those bantam cochins are SOOO cute!! I love them!! Generally I prefer only LF, but I love the bantam cochins, and they make great broodies, which I also love... a breeder over my way has some really pretty ones... on here she is pawtraitart..... I know she ships eggs ... She has mottled and calico in her birds... she might be able to help you with the breeding question about putting the silverlaced with a mottled roo...

And Overoberyl, wow those BR's are stunning!! I have never been a huge fan of the BR's, but all the ones I've seen have been hatchery.. yours put those silly hatchery birds to shame!!

I am working the next few days, then I will get pics up of my pullets and cockerels which I will have spring eggs from and start working on the feedback thing.. I didn't keep track of the post #'s, so that will be some homework for me to do, lol!!

Here are this week's current standings as of 6:30AM, Wed. Nov. 14. For all potential new swappers, we welcome your participation, but please read the rules on page 1, post #1 of this thread.

Game #1 - Whenever someone goes over 7 swaps, they lose 2 swaps the following week. The first person to catch it and post "Jinx"- (name of person going over), gets an extra swap in the current week. If crazypetlady (CPL) goes over, everyone gets an extra swap that week, and the first person to catch her and post "Jinx-CPL" gets a special prize of eggs from CPL. Start stalking!


Game #2 - Whoever claims the 50th, 75th, and 100th swap of the day (yes, I think we will get up that high this spring or before) will win an extra wild card swap to be used in the winner's week of choice.
