GAAAH! I cooked my eggs!!!

I can't believe I did that. Went to candle them this evening (all but three looked to be developing nicely) and in the process unplugged the fan so the incubator wouldn't lose too much heat while open. So what did I do but forget to plug the fan back in!!!

I am so bummed with myself. This is the first time I've had a fan in the incubator and it was nice -- I was getting more stable temps across the entire inside, rather than just in the "sweet spot". So I go back downstairs three hours later for a cup of tea and an egg-turning, and the temp is up to 112. Drat, darn, dang, and a whooooole bunch of other words I can't use in public. I am SO mad at myself!

There goes my perfect hatching record... and my turkey eggs... and my NH eggs. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I can't believe I did that. Yes, the eggs are still in the 'bator, yes I'll be keeping them in for a while on the teeny tiny chance that they're not all completely pickled. But I'm about 99.9% sure they're toast.

So sorry to hear about this! Fingers crossed that some will make it!!!

Thanks, msztre! I'm not holding out much hope, honestly, but what the heck -- if any make it it'll be a happy surprise. In the meantime, I'm keeping my horns pulled in for a while. Still got a lot of eggs coming yet and, other than user error, my little home uglybator works a treat -- and now I think I can safely say I have "doublecheck EVERYTHING" permanently imprinted on my brain.

Aw that really stinks!! Can you see inside the eggs enough to see any movement? Is there really that big of a thermostat difference between still air and forced?! I know I love my forced air preset... Even when it got "cold" here and my still air hatcher was going wimpy on temp, that preset has never changed from 99.
