I know, right!??? He's crazy! What's going to make him really mad is I asked for gift cards to make more coops for Christmas!
I have mentioned I have a plan to start breeding chickens, but I have never really discussed that breeding means separate coops and more birds

What really gets me is he is the reason we ever got a rooster (I just wanted eggs) and turkeys and quail. I think he's just mad because nothing is laying right now.
Just tell him that breeding means you can sell hatching eggs...so the birds can start paying for some or all of their expenses

OK, everyone. I have little bantam eggs (serama and sebright) coming for the NYD hatch. I'm very nervous with these. Please send me any tips for a successful hatch. I know I am going to have to keep them separated from my other eggs in hatching baskets. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I actually use quail racks to set my serama eggs and partridge racks to set my sebright and silkie eggs.. They are the perfect size. Incubate the same as regular chicken eggs but be prepared the serama may hatch a day or two early.

Wow are serama eggs really that small??? It's hard to believe a chicken could lay that small of eggs... Of course my blackduych bantams haven't laced since I bought them three weeks ago... They better start earning their keep!! (Cuz, you know, the husband may exile them  )
