Do help her. I help all mine if they're taking too long and never had a problem.

Yes. Don't help it. It is not ready. She will rest quite a while after the pip, could be 12-48 hoursI'm going to wait for now. I don't want to risk the other eggs by opening it up to to much. I already had to add hot water to get the humidity up.. With that safety hole and knowing they can last about 3 days (even if she has absorbed the yolk) without food I think she'll be ok at least until morning.. It is day 21. Her mother hatched a day early so I was concerned about her eggs.
It seems this is in an incubator, based on the talk of "opening it up" and "adding hot water." And they say they have 5 eggs pipping. This was under a broody?
Just the one egg?
Best to let broody do her job.
Oh, please don't flip them over. It really disorients them. It will make that ones hatch take longerbecausenow It has to turn around again. When they pip on the bottom they are fine. They know what they are doing. Plus, opening the incubator can shrinkwrap them because humidity drastically reduces. She is officially on her way out. The crack is now becoming a hole. I've heard the struggle of hatching is important for the chick to build strength. It makes sense. I am usually of the mind don't interfere if you don't have to. I just had a Silverudd pip upside down though. I flipped her and put her back in the incubator. I watched and I did see her beak pushing at the membrane so I think she'll be ok too. If not, well that is for another thread..
