Hatching Emu Eggs

So sorry to hear that!! Keep us posted on the new ones! The yolks look like they have some little red veins. Is that just an illusion? That would mean that one started but quit very early on.

It does look like it in the picture but in person it was just how the yolk seemed to separate creating deeper lines. These eggs I had shipped so hopefully picking some up solved my problem. I am checking my temps and humidity with several different hygrometers this time as well just to rule that out also.

Shipping is probably the culprit here. Last year I had 4 eggs shipped. Two from one box hatched and two from the other box didn’t develop/hatch. My guess is that the second box had a tougher time in the mail. I am glad you were able to pick up your new ones! I bet you will have great luck with them!

Thank you. I do have 2 chicks and a couple eggs wiggling❤️

Oh gorgeous blondies - or is one white? I love them! @Strawberry74
Oooolala! Pretty babies! It does look like a white and a blonde. Although blondes can have lighter pigmentation too. Does the lighter chick on the right have blue eyes?

Congratulations on your successful hatch this time! Hope you have 2 more soon!

@PrettyEgg101 Great job on your brooder area. These babies need toys and enrichment. I had a dog ball that lit up with movement in last year that they were mesmerized by! I also had this hanging cat toy with a large bell in the end. One of the babies would play with it all day. We called it the butlers bell like he was ringing it to get my attention. It went to his new home with him since he was so obsessed with it.

Just be mindful of the size of toys, making sure they can't swallow them. They like shiny bright things a lot. Unsolicited advice, but those tiny bells on that hanging toy look like they could be swallowed if they pulled them off.

How old are these 2 and when are the next 2 due?
