Hatching ethics questions...just wondering.

It's a shame that you aren't closer to a good venue for selling peas.
Unfortunately, it seems that raising peacocks isn't a viable business for you, due to your location.

Wouldn't it be easier to just take your pea's eggs away?
There doesn't seem to be much motivation for you to let your pea hatch her chicks.
And we have a reliable source here that says pea eggs are good eating!

I tried pea eggs, and their texture to me is just aweful and I gag when I take a bite(goose, duck and guinea eggs too *shudder*).

My current hen doesnt lay when penned(30'X20'X8' aviary with a coop). Starting July I let the pair out and free range, some years she then gives it a go and hides a nest somewhere or she doesnt even bother(wet years).
So if she lays I generally cant find them.
She is rather peculiar with her laying, never had a hen thats that difficult about it.

As for raising peas being a business, they are about as much business as my waterfowl and chickens, raise them for the joy of having chicks and then in the fall when grown they fill the freezer. Around here you cannot even sell a laying hen(unless you give it up for a buck or two).
