hatching geese eggs

Hi all. Still have 2 Toulouse developing away in the bator even with my idiot self doing my best to kill them! Ha we won't talk about that! They have about a week or so to go. Question (and I've heard others talk about it) there is some fluid in the aircell. Apparently common on shipped eggs. I guess they develop well but then on internal pip usually drown? So will proper positioning help prevent this or could you pinhole and drain then reseal?

Still waiting to hear if alison-addicted2quack is gonna sell any goslings.

. I've emailed. Hopefully she'll have a couple dewlaps since I've already spent so much money on nothing.

Hope all cont to go well with everyone!!

i have never heard about the water in the air cells from shipped eggs. but my last batch of eggs 2 had water in the air cells but they had quit and were about ready to expold one was a oozing.

my two brown eggs hatched and both goslings are brown. does that mean they are both boys? is is possible to get a brown female from the white gander?

Hi

Buffbeauty - I would strongly advise against any attempt to draw off fluid. Keep humidity low and position the eggs at an angle of nearly 60 degrees if there is still free fluid. Two of our last Dewlaps are the same, (I left them under a goose for 2 weeks and she must have been clumsy with them). Keep cooling daily to promote weight loss. Have you been monitoring the eggs' weight loss?

Critterranch - I would expect dilute males and white females from that mating. Sounds like you have two male goslings there.

That's what I expected but just wanted a pro opinion. These are being incubated upright still of course but rocking back and forth. Ok so position at 60 degrees for hatch after seeing draw down? I have not weighed since initial weight as I've not wanted to handle them too much with the loose aircells, but I am doing the daily cools and mists and am monitoring the aircells. They cont to grow.
