I'm on day 31 of hatching ducklings, and most of them have already hatched and every time after I hatch them I'll crack open the ones that are didn't hatch, to see what went wrong to improve my next clutch. and as I was cracking open the last five eggs in my incubator two of them were still alive. I opened them from the air bubble and they still had a lot of yolk and veins so I put a damp tissue over them and put them back in the incubator but they still look like they need about two more days of incubation what do you guys recommend I should do. Please help

Day 31 so unless they're Muscovies that's seriously late. I'd suspect a cold incubator.

I'd keep the humidity high, like 70-75%, and temp 99.5° if it's below that. If your incubator doesn't have a thermostat, I'd put them closest to the heater, or in the center as the edges can be cooler than the center.

I'd consider opening the membranes around their bills now, even if they're not quite ready to take in air yet.. ("Shrink wrapping" of the membrane is a problem in the low humidity desert environment where I live, but maybe not where you are.)

And these two are the only incubator residents, right?

That's all I can think of, other than keeping your expectations realistic. I hope they both pull through though! :fl

I live in California but it's been raining so the humidity has been pretty high. In the incubator the temperatures have been usually between 99.4 and 100° and the humidity has been between 75% and 85%, I opened up the tops of the 4 eggs that didn't hatch (on the Air pocket) and two of them were still alive, they still have they yoke and veins in the egg and i broke the membrane to by accident and I just put a tissue over the top and and sprayed it with some water, what do you think??

I'm fairly new at this (year 2), but I believe you're doing the right thing. We have power outages here & so far I've had 1 hatch a week early/didn't make it, 1 live one and 2 breach.
I also have at least 1 egg that looks like the duckling is upside down. I don't know what to do about that. I'm afraid that if I turn it, it will harm the little one. No movement in any & I've got 43 to go. If my nerves survive I'll be lucky. I live in Red Bluff, California. We are in humitity land also. I'm not looking forward to summer.

Watch for bruising on the eggs. That will indicate it's trying to pip but isn't doing it in the air cell so it will need help. The bruise is caused by blood vessels breaking where they are trying to pip. You might have to open that area if no pipping gets started soon.

What day are your eggs on?

** the original post is from January, and the OP hasn’t been around much, so not sure if they will see this or not.
