I hope hes a silkie. I put him infront of a mirror. He fluffed up his fur and ran at the mirror. So cute. Iv also got a very nice spaniel.she loves little animals. She just sniffes them. Shes to dumb to relize that the chick is edible. Dont worry, the chick is completely happy and safe!

Day 22 all eggs have hatched out except egg number four I have three chicks out and one still peeping
PLEASE HELP! I have 4 new eggs from the farm that im volunteering from! I candled them all, 2 where infertile but rotten, 3 where fertile one had brown stuff coming out so I put it in the bin. The past 2 eggs I have are moving around constantly. I think I have a TWIN egg! How do I know if a twin egg needs help to hatch?! Will it die? My other egg is moving too. I think it's on day 18. I can see blood veins and bubble. I see air bubble then veins then sudden darkness. Which I think is good.

Congratulations, I'm so pleased the egg hatched for you :celebrate
It could be a silkie as it looks like it has a vaulted skull. If you could post a pic of its head up that would be better. Was the egg white that it hatched from?

I've never hatched a double yolk egg but if you type it into the search box above there are threads on it. Often one if not both chick die as there is just not enough room in the egg. Chicks can have deformities due to the fact of not enough room in the egg to develop correctly. Some have been successful in hatching them but have had to assist the hatch.

The other sounds ok, quite a big dark mass would indicate father on in development.
Have you got your incubator yet?

Sad to report that I culled 5 eggs tonight.  3 were quitters.  10 went into lockdown but they don't look very promising.  Something I noticed on two eggs is in the small end it looks like veins exploded or something:(

Sorry about your quitters :hugs

What makes you think "Not very promising"?
im not sure what to say on exploded veins :idunno
Did things look ok on the other parts of the egg? Is there any other way to describe the exploded veins?

Thank you.

I'm not seeing any activity. Now my fan has gone out on my incubator, grrrr. The ones that aren't promising have the air cell at one end, then dark and then light again and you can see veins that are thick and blotchy. Kinda like if you were to pull a cotton ball apart and some of it is thin and then a thicker stringy in other places. I'm on my way to work now. I will try and draw a picture this evening.
