Hatching Party! Wanna Join?! Set 8/7, Hatching 8/27!!

No more progress on the 4th and 5th egg. Maybe we'll have something by the time I get back from the pool party this evening. I really would like to get them moved to the little coop tonight. The two older chicks are getting pretty active and I don't want them to fall out of the nest.

The one that was moving this morning is still now but the other one is moving....no pips yet.

Been a long, worrisome day, but that last baby is starting to come around a bit. She's begun holding herself upright a bit, rather than just laying on her side and flopping. Started holding her head up for longer periods of time.

Still hoping for her.

I had one chick hatch in the am. And I went through and poked holes in the air sac area to check on the others. All were dead at previous stages of development. I knew they didn't look right! And I have one other one that has a live chick. It's wiggling around in there and taking it's gosh awful sweet time! It's making me so nervous!!! Especially since I chipped a hole in the top of the egg. I want it to come out already but it seems content to stay there for a while longer!

And when it's all said and done...

16 originally set, all fertile, no quitters, 16 hatched, 16 new chicks in the brooder!
These eggs were from a local fellow chicken lover. Polish and Polish-Silkie mutts. Several foot deformities, but none severe. The egg supplier has some gene pool issues that I will let them know about.

I've decided to call him/her Quincy. XD Sounded like a good cute...squishy name a few minutes ago. He (I am calling a boy. It's so boyish.) has a sibling or friend one hatching right now so thankfully it shouldn't grow up all alone!
