Hatching shipped eggs

First time for me with shipped eggs.
Ordered 24. FedEx was not kind to the box. 1 egg smashed and 2 were cracked. I rested them about 20 hours and put them in the incubator.
I'm on day 10 and it looks like at least 14 are developing well with a couple more ??. I'll candle before lockdown and pull out anything not looking good.
I'm using an Incuview with an auto turner. It does not let the eggs stand up, they roll on the side.
Good so far. I'll be happy with any kind of decent hatch.

Don't suppose you can claim damages from FedEx for mishandling your package could you?

@morganalefae - Don't suppose you can claim damages from FedEx for mishandling your package could you?

The seller refunded me for the broken ones.
I figure shipping eggs carries some risk.
@cholland over here it depends if the stuff was 1: insured by the delivery company and 2 if it covers that item I'm sure it depends for you to hence why I asked. I'm suprised the seller refunded you for the broken ones I have heard other ppl on other sites who were told not my problem by the seller and told to take it up with the delivery company. Yes shipped eggs (or anything shipped really) does carry risk but saying that delivery places should handle packages better thats what they are paid for.

If it had been much worse I probably would look into it. The box was packaged well but it didn't say fragile on it.
I didn't even ask for a refund. They asked how they arrived and I let them know the status.
Purchasing shipped eggs is not something I will probably do very often. I intend to just hatch my own.

Well that is different if the seller did not put fragile on it it's bound to happen aint it? (all my sellers have it wrapped in fragile tape with fragile this side up stickers) I personally would refund for broken eggs if I did not put fragile tape on the package (who knows they could have handled it better if it was there) I only buy hatching eggs atm because I want to add new breeds to my flock with the chance of getting more then 1. Besides I have seen seller think they are sitting on gold mines when trying to sell a poor quality hybrid at over $30 each. it's like people with mutt dogs who try to sell them for twice the amount of the purebred parent saw someone trying to sell lab mastiff crosses for roughly $700 I bought my purebred (grant it no papers) lab for less then half of that!

So the incubator I have them in they late flat and turn do you think I could make shift some egh cartons to fit on there and shut the turning part off and I turn them or is it too late for that I am day 7
So I decided to take the 6 eggs and put them upright in egg carton- I cut the carton up to be able to put 2 eggs in each compartment. So we'll see what happens.
