Hatching went wrong! Egg sack stuck to baby. Help?!

Both him and his friend pipped last night. I fell asleep due to anxiety meds I had taken and didn't get to refill the water dish. I woke up to baby #2 out, but baby #1 is struggling! There was a hole from what seems to be the other baby. I helped him out the best I could. But he has the egg stuck to him. How do I get it off?? It's stuck to his wings and eye.

It looks like some of the membrane dried out and stuck to him. I would try a wet q-tip and gently try to remove the membrane. Since he's still so wet I would try to give him plenty of breaks to stay warm in the incubator if it doesn't come off easily because you don't want him to get chilled while he's wet.

We got it! It was 100 percent my fault for not filling the water earlier in the day. The panic attack put me to sleep for the evening so I had no chance to refill then. Totally my fault!

But we got her out. I used a Q-tip that was slightly wet to soak it, then a combination of tweezers and the Q-tip to get it off. Most I could push off with the Q-tip. Some I had to pull off with tweezers a bit to loosen. She ended up losing a feather. But she's peeping around now. I changed all the bedding in the incubator and put her back to dry off and warm up.

Luckily getting her out and clean took 10 minutes total (broken up for breaks and Googling).

Great! I'm glad you were able to get the little bitty all cleaned up! And don't beat yourself up, no matter how much I hover around while the chicks are hatching sometime these things just happen and you were there to fix it!
