Hatching with 2 broodies

We just bought this one. It was not with out two broodys. I researched she has wry neck. Putting her on homemade antibiotics..
Good job on figuring it out. How do you make homemade antibiotics? Hope the chick makes it

Thanks Marie! I'm glad I finally have some time for team broody again!

Yay for your 4 babies! I think it might be the same thing for me with my silkie and silkie cross roos too small for the girls... well, better some than none!

The broody twins have been broody on and off since December, so I'm not all that surprised, lol!

And yes, I have news - there are 3 fluffy butts in the bator!!! Two dark/black and one blonde-red. One just hatched 5 mins ago, the other two about an hour or so.

Bonnie, I have no idea - she has been sitting tight all day and not letting me peek, so I assume something is happening. Will go check again in a bit.

Pictures once they can be out of the bator!

They are Cochins and Orps, Bonnie has the same ones, I gave her 5 of them (didn't sound like any hatched yet, but will go check again soon). There are 5 now in the bator - looks like 2 black or dark blue Cochins, 2 buff Orps, and one penciled or some other pattern Orp , and the 6th is just finishing zipping!

I am sorry I have not been keeping up with anything anyone has written yesterday or today. I will but right now I have ants in my pants lol

I have chirping in one of my eggs! Today is day 20. No external pip yet when I checked an hour ago.

I do however have an issue. Dot knows the babies are coming (I am assuming she heard the chirping) so she has been going in and out of the coop non-stop hanging around the Bantys nesting box. I am not sure what to do about this. I don't think Dot means them any harm at all as I believe she cobrooded before. I think she just wants to help mother the babies. Unfortunately Banty is not the co brooding type. I am kind of worried about what problems this may cause

Good morning Team Broody

Apologies for dropping off the grid and maybe causing some worry; I am fighting fit

Work has been so hectic of late and the weekends have been so nice I have taken the opportunity to spend lots and lots of time with my girls.

I have been keeping up to date with your posts but, sadly, would not be able to reply to each.

The girls are all well and such a joy to have around; one big happy family now; the pecking order still dictates the occasional 'I'm higher up the ladder than you peck' but other than that, they tear around the place like the Fab 5

LuLu cracks me up, she is the funniest little chicken I have ever owned! Being a Frizzle, she has lots of curled forward feathers around her head. She has this cute way of pulling her head back into her feathers (like a turtle) before she takes off across the yard at the speed of light

She follows me everywhere in the garden, nattering away.

LuLu and Tina, her adopted mum, are best buds but every so often, they go all ninja-chicken on each other but I swear they are just playing; it is adorable. Watching them in the garden I do believe they are playing tag-chase sometimes! I also believe I can see Cilla just rolling her eyes at them ... Kids! :)

Dusty is squatting! The first egg in months may be in the not too distant future.

Sorry, already started typing so not scrolling back through heaps of posts but, 16 paws I believe you were the one who experienced the exploding FF? I just rest the lid on top of the jar to keep unwanted stuff out and let the gasses escape.

HBT, I had a similar problem to yours with Dusty and Cilla. Cilla is a wonderful mum and Dusty just wanted to use the nest box to lay an egg. Even though they get along famously under normal circumstances; there was a lot of growling and pushing and shoving and not wanting to have any bubbies injured in the process; I had to lock down Cilla and the bubs, forcing Dusty to use an alternative nest box .. all back to normal now though.

Commiserations on the losses, congratulations on the hatches and keep those beautiful pictures coming xoxo
