!!! HATS OFF TO INVENTOR OF COOKIE TIN HEATER THANKS !!

Please post address for " Chicken Swap"Looking for distance from Woodstock VA. Thanks

Excellent idea, but just a word of caution, there should be a small rubber grommet in the hole where the black and white wires pass through the tin. The sharp edges of the hole will eventually wear through the insulation on the wires causing a short circuit. If this happens, the circuit breaker should trip cutting off power to the heater but maybe not before the sparks catch the coop on fire. I am defiantly going to build a couple of these.

I understand the heater part, but don't understand about the restaurant steamtable container- what is that?
Can you use this for the plastic waterers to set on? Or just for metal waterers?

Thanks!

this is an excellent thread, i think i will be rigging up a few of these for my own coops, does anyone else have pictures of theirs they would share?

It's a stainless steel pan.

Youve probably seen them in cafeterias.
It's what they put the food in to keep it warm

they look like a chaffing (sp) dish like they use at buffet restaurants

Great idea. What I did last year with my metal 5 gallon watering can was get some RTV and an oil pan heater for $15. The waterer sits on bricks, and I adhered the heater to the bottom of the waterer with the RTV (so there is a gap between the ground and the heater. When it freezes, I just plug it in or put it on a timer. Works great.
