Havahart trap junk

we have has several live traps and if they have a solid sheet of sheet metal on the front they are the best. as coon will chew on the mesh.

To all those that relocate the coons. Two thoughts, How would you like it if people relocated coons near your house? you would not like it guaranteed. A coons radius is huge. If it is not more than three miles there is a good chance he is right back in your coop.
Second, why do you think the exterminators always advertise as humane relocation? So the coon or skunk will find some other poor sucker to live and they will call the exterminator to relocate him again. A great money making business model if you ask me.

If you catch a coon, skunk, squirrel, opossum or coyote. Do EVERYONE a favor and kill it. If you cant shoot where you live, fill up a garbage can with water and drop the trap in and come back in an hour. None of these are endangered species. Don't feel bad, be glad you could help the rest of us out by not dropping it off near our houses.

A very good box trap is a Tomahawk trap. Made in Tomahawk, WI. Use marshmallow's or something sweet. If no cats around use fish, cat food, or dog food.

Interesting info on the traps. The only trap I've ever bought was the 1089 havahart and so I didn't know about the quality/durability of other trap types. Anyways, everything that got into that trap never got out unless someone released it. The only thing that I dislike about that trap is the metal sheet door.

please remember to stake the trap firmly, a coon can twist off a piece of 14 guage wire. Also I catch cats every year when baiting with marshmellows so they are not fool proof. use a straight screwdriver to help set these traps. They are great traps.

Couple things with the live traps. make sure the are rock solid and do not rock. coon will climb on top of them and the door will fall shut

F&T is located in michigan and minnesota trapline supply is located in Minnesota, both great supply houses.

My DH just informed me that he will not kill any animal, so if I trap anything it is up to me to "relocate" it.

Cought a coon the other day in an extra large trap 42x15x15. When i got up it was gone. Ripped the door off. Havahart said their traps are well built but nothing can contain a coon for more than a couple hours because they panic. They recommend checking the trap every couple hours. Really! Who gets up every two hours to check a trap? grrr
i recently purchased a havahart 1026, a 1079 and a 1081 thru ebay sight unseen because of the quality of traps i have had in the past. BIG MISTAKE Havaharts are now made of cheap material, are poorly designed and two of the traps were improperly constructed . pure junk ! Stay away from purchasing this overpriced garbage
