"Have a blessed day"

I don't find it particularly offensive or even religious...but I get annoyed that it's expected and it is based on stupidity. You don't, in fact, die a little when you sneeze, so the reasoning behind saying "Bless you" is moot.

Although when I am at that point in the cold I am generally wishing that the person who gave it to me would die a lot.

You will note that there is no blessing that person.

Well, we did get distracted by burping, farting and sneezing for a bit, but we seem to be back on task now.

Still, that's pretty good for me. Normally by post two we've forgotten what the original point was...or it never had a point to begin with.

there are so many things that people do,say, celebrate in life that have origins that people no longer adhere to. Yet they say things like "bless you" out of common courtesy, respect, etiquette, etc. which I'm ok with... seems to me people just want to be polite, friendly. No problem there...

Some people have a disability of sorts...and I'm one of 'em. When I hear or see something that just doesn't make any sense whatsoever, I just can't bring myself to join in.

Like smoking, for instance. Has anyone ever stood back and really watched this action? If you were from another planet and you arrived here to see people lighting a piece of paper wrapped around a weedy substance, within inches of their faces, and inhaling the foul smelling smoke from this burning, wouldn't you just wonder what in the world????

I guess that is why I never smoked, aside from the fact that it is a rather painful and horrible death to die by drowning from the inside out .... it just looks so ridiculous that I couldn't see myself doing it!

Saying Bless You to someone who sneezes seems the same way for me....rather silly to say this just because someone has an involuntary spasm. I can hardly force myself to utter the phrase for this reason alone....I know, weird...but it is who I am.
