Have A Predator Problem??

Bambi was ruined for me when I read Kamakazo written by a talented young author Wes McCloud .. now there are some deer I do not want to run into

Rod-T love your sense of humour!

I have a problem with Crows .. suggestions on getting rid of them would be appreciated; keeping in mind that it is illegal in Australia to kill them or interfere with their nests in any way.

And, yes, they are a predator, they steal eggs and are a threat to young bantam chicks.

There are videos on the web of caves eating baby chicks.... alive no less. However the chick was restrained so as to make it easier for the bovine to chase down and get its lips around this fuzzy chicken snack.

From the chick's reaction there can be little doubt that the young cow's intent toward the chick is not fully understood by everyone involved.

The first picture looks fake, and the second one just shows a deer with its face beside a dead animal. We just assume that the deer is eating the carcass. I believe that deer might eat flesh if they were deficient or starving, but I do not believe that they just go around looking for meat to eat.

The article about deer eating the quail is ridiculous pro-hunter propaganda. I guess it is possible, but I will never believe that the reason we have less quail is because of murderous deer. That article blew it way out of proportion. If anything is hurting the quail population, it is us!

You need to reread the article. a they actually quoted someone saying they did not believe the deer were hurting the Quail pop and that it had probably been going on for eons. If you are going to claim something as clear propaganda, at least read it clear through.

I did not mean the entire article was propaganda, but the idea that had been stated in it claiming that deer were drastically hurting the quail population.
You were quick to take offense.

I thought the picture of the deer with fangs was supposed to be a deer with a rat tail coming out of its mouth, implying that the deer had eaten a rat. A deer with fangs sounds pretty cool!

What offends, or rather frustrates me is people who deny something so quickly simply because it does not fit their world view. You are welcome to Google it and come back with clear evidence it is a hoax, but do not dismiss.

I think those deer are so freaking cool reminds me that sometimes the least thing we expect can be the very thing that happens. Look at how big of a tower termites can build and yet they are one of the smallest insects.

@FreeFeather

if you google carnivorous deer, there are tons of pictures in that series of the deer chewing on that carcass.

I didn't read any article explaining, just thought for whatever reason the deer was doing it, it was odd. If you look closely at the picture I posted, it seems relatively clear, that part of the carcass in in the deer's mouth.

I wonder if the fact that it was Winter has something to do with the deer eating the carcass.
