OH MY! THEY ARE RATHER PROUD OF THEM ARENT THEY? I CAN SEE WHY THEY ARE IN STOCK. FOR THE PRICE OF THIS UNIT I WOULD SAY STOP BUILDING YOUR OWN AND SAVE SOME MONEY BY PURCHASING A READY MADE UNIT FOR MUCH LESS THAN WHAT IT WILL COST YOU TO BUILD 1 AND USE THIS AS THE THERMOREGULATION UNIT.

Well point me in the right direction for a good temperature regulator for my outside brooder. I just want temperature control for lights For that matter point me in the direction for better lights out there for heat. The drop downs have got to go, because I want the brooder shorter.

I think the ony time I would want to control humidity is if I was hatching a Kazillion eggs every year. But then I'd just buy a Sportsman and let it do the job.
Lord, do not let me get to that point or anywhere near it. Lots of small hatches is fine with me. (As I look over at my little babies and smile with pride).

I just found the owners manual

this item has to sockets

1 to conect a fogger and 1 to conect a heat source

you can program the controler to maintain the temperature and humidity

ARE YOU USING A MISTER IN YOUR SET UP? OR SOME SORT OF HUMIDITY PUMP? IF NOT THEN IT WILL NOT CONTROL YOUR HUMIDITY AND WOULD AN UNNECESSARY EXPENSE. MOST OF US DO NOT HAVE SUCH EQUIPMENT ON BIRD EGG INCUBATORS, THE ONES WHO DO IT IS OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER THEMSELVES, SUCH AS BRINSEA OR LYONS.. SO THIS EQUIPMENT IS KIND OF STRANGE TO THE AVERAGE HATCHER IN THE BIRD WORLD. CREATING IT YOURSELF WILL BE KIND OF CHALLENGING BECAUSE OF THIS. WHILE I AM SURE IT CAN CONTROL YOUR TEMPERATURE IN AN ACCEPTABLE MANNER ITS THE HUMIDITY PART THAT THROWS ME OFF TRACK... MAJORITY OF INCUBATORS MANUFACTERED OR HOMEMADE USE STANDARD PASSIVE EVAPORATION FOR HUMIDITY CONTROL, THE ONES WE KNOW OF THAT USE ACTIVE HUMIDITY CONTROL ARE ALL PREMADE AS OPTIONS. SO ADVICE OR KNOWLEDGE ON THIS PART WILL LIKELY BE SLIM PICKINGS.

IT'S YOUR MONEY, BUT UNLESS YOU ARE DESIGNING A HUMIDITY PUMP TO USE WITH THIS I WOULD SAY MOVE ALONG TO ANOTHER DESIGN THAT MAY PERHAPS SAVE YOU A LITTLE MONEY WHILE FUNCTIONING JUST AS WELL OR BETTER AND THAT WILL IN TURN FREE UP SOME WIGGLE ROOM IN THE BUDGET FOR OTHER OPTIONS OR PERHAPS DIFFERENT TOYS ON YOUR LIST?

BY ALL MEANS IF YOU DO USE IT, OR IF YOU ARE DESIGNING A HOMEMADE HUMIDITY PUMP ONCE ITS DONE AND WORKING CORRECTLY FOR YOU PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH THE BOARD AS WE LIKE NEW STUFF SUCH AS THIS, AND ITS ALWAYS GOOD TO GET REVEIWS FOR EQUIPMENT THATS AVAILABLE TO US FOR OUR OWN USES

Well point me in the right direction for a good temperature regulator for my outside brooder

IF ITS IN USE YOU SHOULD PLEANTY OF LIL FUZZY THERMOMETERS RUNNIN AROUND INSIDE IT

I DONT TEMPERATURE CONTROL MY BROODERS WITH GAUGES AND FANCY GIZMOS, I USE THE CHICKS TO TELL ME IF ITS OK. THEY ARE ALREADY PAID FOR AND DONT REQUIRE BATTERIES

I have a home built cabinet incubator using a store style pepsi cooler, one of the 5 foot high ones. I currently am using a modified water heater therm and then tubs of water for the humidity. This unit, from the research I've done, is one of the better ones to use with my setup. Add the reptifogger from the same company and you will have use of the humidity control portion of the unit. Someone on here already has it and uses it. Here is the link to his setup. https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=33815

This is all very interesting, but who can't add a 35 cent wet sponge when needed?
