I used to live in a trailer, and I had chickens, horses and dogs and cats.

Now I live in a "respectable" neighborhood, in a real "house". I still have the horses, dogs, cats - - - AND about 100 chickens. Here they call me the CRAZY CHICKEN LADY !!

I took the family to see Kit Kittredge when it was in the theaters. There's a scene in the film where the family starts selling eggs to get by and one of Kit's classmates tells her "selling eggs is one step from the poorhouse!" and I burst out laughing. The other folks in the theater looked at me funny but I didn't care. We've been selling eggs for years. And to upscale people too.

Who gives a darn what people like that think? If you need their opinion they own you and you don't need their opinion!

we had some naysayers when we were building the coop(mainly husband's buddies). "wow that's redneck!" etc.

I have one resolution for anyone who isn't supportive of our chicken raising: NO EGGS FOR YOU!
