Even as babies, mine all come when called, but stay out of reach. I read that ducks don't like to be touched. Notice, unless mating, they don't touch each other. Contrast this to my chickens that sleep in a dog pile.
I wish mine liked to be pet, but they don't. They are so soft.
Only one time did one demand to be handled - it was when Captain Hook had a fish hook stuck through his tongue and beak. He was a PERFECT patient. I was amazed. He was perfectly still and quiet through the prolonged operation of improper hook removal. Then, when set down, he stayed right at my feet.
I reckon ya'll can figure how Captain Hook earned his name.
